It is once again time we change the name of one of our favorite summer destinations. After nearly a decade as the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater, the venue will now be known as the Credit Union 1 Amphitheater. Over the years, the concert venue has been known as World Music Theatre (1990-1995), New World Music Theatre (1995-2001), Tweeter Center (2001-2006), and First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre (2006-2015).
CU1 is excited to unveil the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park and use this significant stage to shine a light on how credit unions are the stable, community-focused solution for everyone. Learn more online at https://t.co/l8M4DLNxlYhttps://t.co/BZugwJPwwL
Country star and born-again-bigot Morgan Wallen cancelled a show minutes before he was supposed to hit the stage recently in Mississippi. While his team was quick to note that refunds would be available at the point of purchase, that wasn’t good enough for some people. One crazed superfan took to social media, however, to demand a little more.
There’s a lot to dig into here.
The tickets cost a lot, but at this point it is expected for someone of Wallen’s level of fame. Her outfit cost over $100, but that’s nothing extreme. Her husband’s outfit being over $200? I had no idea Vineyard Vines had such expensive items. Rebel Rags, as it turns out, is a University of Mississippi team store, so unless they bought the entire store, there’s no reason they should’ve ever spent that much money at one location.
Add in $220 worth of drinks (good Lord) and another $235 for Wallen-related merch, and Mississippi’s finest ended up spending nearly $4,000.
Wallen’s camp has not responded to the outlandish request for refunds.
WGN and Stacker have compiled a list of the worst commutes in Illinois, and while places like Country Club Hills, Yorkville, and Calumet City all have horrific commutes, the unique honor of having the worst goes to our friends in Lockport.

A new study has come out that claims that people who are abstinent until marriage are THREE times more likely to have higher stability in their relationship than those who don’t. Apparently those public high school sex education lessons really made an impact on some people. Researchers from Brigham Young University found that 45 percent of men and women who had only had sex with their spouse reported a “very high” level of relationship stability in their marriage. The researchers claim their findings might be due to the risk of comparing or previous sexual partners interfering with a marriage.
Of course, this study was done by BYU, and your milage may very on how true it is.
Last night, it become official. Per multiple reports, including Adam Schefter from ESPN who first reported it, the Packers are sending Aaron Rodgers to the Jets. This comes after months of an awkward relationship between Rodgers and the Packers.
New York will get Rodgers, the 15th overall pick in the 2023 draft, and a 2023 fifth round selection. Green Bay will get the 13th overall pick in this year’s draft, a 2023 second round pick, a 2023 sixth round pick, along with a conditional 2024 second round pick that could become a first rounder if Rodgers plays 65% of the plays next season.
An iconic figure in Wrigleyville has lost their battle with cancer.
Beth Murphy, who has been running Murhy’s Bleachers since 2003 when her husband passed away, had been battling cancer “on-and-off” for five years. A spokesperson for the restaurant confirmed that she had passed away yesterday.
“It is with great sadness we announce that our owner and the heart of Murphy’s Bleachers, Beth Murphy, peacefully passed away early this morning,” said Murphy’s Bleachers on social media. “The Murphy’s family and all of us here would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time. May she Rest In Peace.”
Yesterday, we were blown away by the work that Sarah Jindra and the WGN Morning News Team did as they flew over Westmont (aka the Bestmont) to capture an epic, high school ‘promposal’.
A change could be coming to the Chicagoland workforce. Restaurant workers and union activists are advocating for a raise in minimum wage for tipped workers in Chicago and across the country. The group One Fair Wage is calling to raise the minimum wage to $15, which is the current Chicago minimum wage for non-tipped employees.
In Illinois, tipped workers have a minimum wage of $7.80 an hour, and nationally, a wage of $2.13 an hour, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

In the name of “free speech”, Elon Musk’s new verification system is already causing havoc. Over the weekend, fake city of Chicago Twitter accounts sprung up and announced fake news regarding the city. One specific phony Tweet took off, saying, ““We’re excited to announce that beginning 5/2/23, North DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be closed to private vehicles between Grand and Hollywood.”
Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago & Illinois’ transportation departments just announced the permanent closure of DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
Except, of course, they didn’t really do that.

We had an amazing day at the Great Chicago Food Depository, and we couldn’t have done it without our awesome volunteers! Together, we inspected, packed, and sent out a whopping 8,784 pounds of bread, which will supply over 7,000 meals to those in need in our community.
But that’s not all! During our second repack session, we also helped prepare 987 CSFP Shelf Stable Boxes, which totaled 23,142 pounds of food, providing 19,286 meals. That’s an incredible 567 meals per volunteer! We’re thrilled to have made such a huge impact and can’t thank everyone enough for their hard work and dedication.
White Sox closer Liam Hendriks announced yesterday on Instagram that he is cancer free and in remission. The Australian-born hurler announced back in January that he had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
There is no timetable yet for his return to the team, but the Sox could absolutely use him as they currently sit at 7-12. His return to the South Side will be a forever memory, when it does occur.
