Not one… but two… new Jimmy Eat World songs were released into the wild this week! Check out Love Never and half heart:
Conan O’Brien’s TBS show is getting cut in half next year. Along with Conan, TBS president Kevin Reilly announced that, as of January, the show will segue to a half-hour format that will steer away from celebrity interviews and focus on producing more original comedy segments.
On a conference call this morning, Conan said the new format is “Something that fits the modern landscape and certainly fits the way that I interact with my fans more.”
Twitter announced that every one of its 336 million users should change their passwords. A bug was found that stored passwords in their original form to an “internal log,” which doesn’t have proper encryption.
Twitter boss Jack Dorsey tweeted, “We fixed the bug and have no indication of a breach or misuse by anyone.” He goes on to say, “As a precaution, consider changing your password on all services where you’ve used this password.”
At the time of this article’s posting, Twitter service is erratic with many link clicks leading to an error page.
One of the last few remaining Blockbuster Video stores is in Anchorage, Alaska. To help the store stay in business, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver purchased some Holllywood memorabilia to help attract foot traffic. Oliver spent $7,000 on Russell Crowe’s jockstrap from 2005’s Cinderella Man, where Crowe played an underdog boxer.
“I tell you, we’re going to get a lot of traffic, is what I’m expecting,” said the store’s general manager in an interview with the Chicago Tribune.
It’s certainly odd enough to walk into a Blockbuster in 2018 to rent ‘Cinderella Man’, but now you now you get to stare at something that covered Crowe’s crotch.

Death Cab for Cutie teased a new album with the following video teaser. The new album is due out in August 2018. This will be the bands 9th studio album and their first since 2015.
With the latest Avengers film hitting theaters this past week, Marvel is hitting us while the iron (man) is still hot with the trailer for ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. The trailer seems to give teasers for some spectacular special effects, and maybe it gives away a little too much. Either way, it looks like another popcorn blockbuster from Marvel with a good balance of action, comedy; and of course, enlarged ants playing the drums.
You want to go deep with this trailer? YouTube movie nerd queen Beyond The Trailer breaks down each shot in the trailer and what it means in general for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Superdawg co-founder Flaurie Berman died in her sleep last night. Flaurie, along with husband Maurie, started the legendary hot dog joint 70 (!) years ago. The hot dog effigies of her and Maurie (who died three years ago) are Chicago institutions, standing proudly above the Milwaukee Avenue location (they can also be found on top of the Wheeling location).
It is with profound sadness that we inform you that our matriarch, Florence Berman, passed away peacefully in her sleep last night. For seventy years, Flaurie worked alongside and supported her husband and best friend, Maurie Berman as they built a business and a family. pic.twitter.com/Zr5LQ8ZcqR

Your Fighters of Foo certainly enjoy themselves a random cameo from time to time (see: Rick Astley)
This past weekend in Florida, John Travolta popped from watching the show side-stage as the band tipped their cap to him with a cover of “You’re The One That I Want.” You know, that everybody sings from the musical, Grease. Evidence:

That’s not even the weirdest part of the story.
Come to find out that the Pulp Fiction star’s next movie is a project directed and co-written by Fred Durst — yes, Hot Dog Flavored Water-Fred — a movie about a crazed celebrity stalker titled Moose. And yeah, I’d say Travolta’s character looks a little….odd…

Travolta says working with Durst was “maybe my favorite experience I’d had.” The former Limp Bizkit frontman has been carving out a directing career, directing Jesse Eisenberg in The Education of Charlie Banks and Ice Cube in The Longshots. No release date yet for his latest film.

To celebrate National Concert Week, a select number of pavilion seats for PIQNIQ 2018 are just $20 — flat cost, no more fees. Of course, that offer joins up with the 10 bands for $20 lawn tickets that we’ve been offering. But even THOSE are cheaper, because while supplies last, there will be no fees on those either.
This is the direct link to the special offer.
The whole thing ends Tuesday, May 9th at 11:59PM….or until the tickets are gone. Get on it! — [eric]

As most people predicted, Avengers: Infinity War passed up Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the biggest opening weekend in North America: $250 million big.
