The perfect pool toy for the summer!

Check out the pink inflatable coffin Canadian designer Andrew Greenbum has developed.  He’s started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to produce them so hopefully the pools and beaches will be strewn with them next summer!  Sure, it might be a little macabre, but it’s pink! -wALT

Watch Radiohead play the MTV Beach House on July 4, 1993

MTV was respected for waving the flag of alternative music, but always having an odd sense to present it in more striking visual settings. Their ‘Unplugged’ series gave us Nirvana’s memorable live album, ‘Beavis & Butthead idiotically riffing over Green Day videos blended the humor of the time with the sound of the times, but then somehow they just got focused on teenage moms and bros from the Jersey shore. They may be getting back to that vibe soon…

Spin turned me on this memorable performance on the 4th of July from the ‘MTV Beach House’ in 1993 which featured a new-to-America Radiohead. The English alt icons were then just starting to tour the States, following the release of ‘Pablo Honey’ their debut album. The performance which took place in the Hamptons with celebrity guests like Jon Stewart, was hosted by the sarcastically sweet Kennedy. RH played their definitive hit ‘Creep’ and ‘Anyone Can Play Guitar’.

This should serve as a grand appetizer with hot dogs off the grill for this week’s Radiohead shows at the United Center.

Police get called on Smashing Pumpkins house show

The reunited Smashing Pumpkins were rolling into the feel-good vibes of their upcoming arena tour this past week with a house show in Los Angeles. The performanced that played into their classic ‘1979’ music video. The show was not without incident as neighbors near the house party were not having it, despite getting heads up about the show. The police did get called on the show, which took place in a backyard. Billy Corgan took to the Instagram to apologize to the Studio City neighborhood for his band’s “nihilistic noise”.

The Pumpkins sound on point in this video that surfaced from the special show.

RIP Richard Swift

A member of The Arcs, The Shins and The Black Keys, Richard Swift, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter, died this morning in Tacoma, Washington. He was only 41 years old.

Just a month ago Swift had been hospitalized from a “life-threatening condition,” which prompted him to create a GoFundMe account for his medical bills.

RIP to one of the nicest, most talented people I’ve had the honor of spending time with.  <3 @thelaurenoneil
