Southwest Airlines announced this week that they are ending their “bags fly free” policy. Just last September, Southwest CEO Bob Jordan told Van Cleave bags would continue to fly without charge.
“Bags will still fly free,” Jordan said. “It’s the third thing customers look for after fare and schedule: Bags fly free, on us. Ninety-seven percent are people who are aware of our policies. So it’s a huge consumer advantage. So bags will absolutely fly free.”
The cost of a checked bag hasn’t been announced but airline sources say it will be competitive with other carriers.

“I need Noise” is something I love to say before seeing K.Flay because she is an incredible artist, and this is my 5th time seeing her! I was more excited to see what she would do next or how she would top her tours from the past! Well, let’s just say she did not disappoint and had a sick set up involving a screen and her using it to bring to life a hologram version of herself that would also mirror her while performing! It was insane and something I have never seen another artist do before, and the whole time I was in the pit was thinking how!? How is she doing this? I still am unsure how but I will say I hope she does it again for future shows/tours, especially in her hometown! K. Flay also played an amazing setlist as usual with her hits but also played some songs softer while also doing some new songs as well and a cover! Even though this was an early show due to it being all ages, everyone had a phenomenal time, and you couldn’t help but sing or dance along with K.Flay or whoever you came with to the show! Overall, I always say this, but go check out K.Flay! She’s a wonderful artist and truly knows how to have fun on stage and also how to create an incredible stage presence!
CHICAGO (3/11/2025) — In a historic partnership with Lyric Opera of Chicago, pioneering alternative rocker Billy Corgan reimagines his era-defining album with The Smashing Pumpkins, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, to celebrate its 30th anniversary, with the World Premiere concerts A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness for seven performances only, November 21–30, 2025.
Iconic Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan will harness all of Lyric’s technical and artistic forces — including the epic sound of the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Lyric Opera Chorus — for an immersive original sonic and visual experience that blurs the boundaries of opera, rock, and performance art. Featuring newly commissioned arrangements and orchestrations by Corgan and James Lowe, who also conducts, as well as costumes from House of Gilles by Gilles and Chloe Mendel, these historic concerts headlined by Corgan and featuring the classically trained voices of special guest artists, these concerts promise to further magnify the legend of the original album and expand the definition and intention of opera.
When asked by Q101’s Case Lowe [Executive Producer, Brian & Kenzie] about the emotional toll that revisiting and reconstructing these songs has had on Corgan, the iconic frontman noted, “anything we do that pertains to our past is really more of a celebration
A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness will be performed at Lyric Opera House, 20 N. The dates for this summer’s festival are July 31 through August 3, the announcement, posted to social media and sent to fans via text message, said, along with the quote “See you this summer, Chicago.”

Life has not been kind to Wes Scantlin, the frontman for former alt-rock staple Puddle Of Mudd. Last summer, Scantlin was arrested after a standoff with SWAT. This, of course, was not the only time that Scantlin had been in trouble with the law, nor the only time that he appeared to have a less-than-desirable mental state.
While playing a benefit show for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (noble), the band embarrassed themselves in front of the Daytona crowd (because of course they were in Daytona) due to Scantlin’s inability to be even semi-coherent on stage.
The day after the performance, someone caught Scantlin outside the venue and asked him what happened. Scantlin responded: “I suck, I suck, and I suck, but I was roofied. My old bass player Sean Sammon roofied me last night, so he can go fuck his ass.” Sammon co-founded Puddle Of Mudd with Scantlin but hasn’t played with them since 2002.

The film not only won ‘Best Picture’, the film also scooped up wins for Best Actress (Mikey Madison) and Best Film Editing. The movie received an additional nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category for Yura Borisov, too.
Notably, A Complete Unknown, which was nominated 8 times, failed to win any awards.

Frand Ferdinand will forever be one of the most underrated bands in rock music. Known rightfully for their 2004 smash-hit “Take Me Out”, the band has racked up an incredible body of work over the last two decades. In a performance for BBC2, they busted out a cover of the iconic Britney Spears track, “Toxic”.
Over the weekend, the incredible finish of the Hinsdale vs. Lyons Township basketball exploded on Sports Twitter. In the final seconds of the matchup, after Hinsdale tied it up with a three-pointer, a player on Lyons Township heaved a half-court that hit nothing but net.
