Wait there’s more!  The D: Jack Black and Kyle Gass will premiere a new six-episode animated series of the same name via their YouTube channel.  “The animated series will premiere on September 28th, with new episodes rolling out each Friday up until the album’s release. Each frame of every episode was hand-drawn by Black himself, with every character voiced by Black and Gass. All six episodes also feature new Tenacious D songs from the band’s forthcoming album. Official Rules

A complete copy of these rules can be obtained at the offices of radio station WKQX-FM (“Station”), owned and operated by Cumulus Media Holdings Inc. or one of its subsidiary companies, 455 N. CityFront Plaza Chicago, IL 60611, during normal business hours Monday through Friday or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the above address.

The Station will conduct the WKQX-FM “Blue October Courtesy Concert Web” Contest (the “Contest”) substantially as described in these rules, and by participating, each participant agrees as follows:

 

  1. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chance of winning.   Void where prohibited.  All federal, state, and local regulations apply.
  2. This Contest is open only to legal U.S. residents, excluding Florida and New York residents, age eighteen (18) years or older at the time of entry with a valid Social Security number and who reside in the Station’s Designated Market Area (“DMA”) as defined by Nielsen Audio, who have not won a prize from the Station in the last 30 days or a prize valued at $500 or more in the last 60 days, and whose immediate family members or household members have not won a prize from the Station in the last 30 days or a prize valued at $500 or more in the last 60 days.  Void where prohibited by law.  Employees of Cumulus Media Holdings Inc., its parent company, affiliates, related entities and subsidiaries, promotional sponsors, prize providers, advertising agencies, other radio stations serving the Station’s DMA, and the immediate family members and household members of all such employees are not eligible to participate. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents and step-parents, siblings and step-siblings, and children and stepchildren.  The term “household members” refers to people who share the same residence at least three (3) months out of the year. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Station’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
  3. Contest Period. The Contest will begin at 6:00 am CT on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 and will run until 11:59 am CT on Thursday, September 27, 2018 (the “Contest Period”).  The Station’s computer is the official time keeping device for this Contest.
  4. How to Enter. To enter:

(i)  Online: Visit the Station’s website www.101wkqx.com during the Contest Period, click on the “Contest” link, click on the “Courtesy Concert with Blue October” Contest link, and complete an entry form.  All entries must be received by 11:59 am CT on Thursday, September 27, 2018 to be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing.  Limit one (1) entry per person per email address.  Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any participant to submit more than one (1) entry by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entry and the participant may be disqualified.  Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Station is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, inappropriate or misdirected registrations, all of which will be disqualified.  In the event of a dispute as to any registration, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the participant. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned the telephone number by the wireless carrier or an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.  Potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder. All entries become the sole and exclusive property of Station and will not be returned.  Station reserves the right to contact entrants and all other individuals whose email address is submitted as part of this promotion.  No mail-in entries will be accepted.

  1. Winner Selection. At approximately 1:00 pm CT on Thursday, September 27, 2018, Station will select one (1) entry for the Grand Prize in a random drawing from among all valid entries received by Station during the Contest Period. The winning entrant will be contacted using the email address and/or telephone number provided with the entry and may be awarded the prize (subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these rules).  Station’s decisions as to the administration and operation of the Contest and the selection of the potential winner are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Failure to respond to the initial verification contact within three (3) days of notification will result in disqualification.
  2. Verification of Potential Winner. THE ELIGIBILITY OF ALL POTENTIAL CONTEST WINNERS IS SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY STATION WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE CONTEST. The potential winner must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. The potential winner may be notified by email and/or telephone call after the date of random drawing and/or winner determination. The potential winner will be required to sign and return to Station, within three (3) days of the date notice is sent, an affidavit of eligibility and a liability/publicity release (except where prohibited) in order to claim his/her prize, if applicable.  A winner who returns the affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release will be deemed to have accepted the contest prize and thereafter will not be permitted to rescind their acceptance of the prize and/or return the prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the affidavit of eligibility and/or the liability/publicity release within the required time period (if applicable), or if the prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize. In the event that the potential winner of a prize is disqualified for any reason, Station may award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries.    
  3. Grand Prize. One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded in this Contest.  The Grand Prize is two (2) guaranteed entry passes to the Courtesy Concert with Blue October on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Cubby Bear in Chicago. Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on a number of factors including the number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period and listeners participating at any given time.

There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that the Station may, at its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash.  The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses.  Any tickets and/or gift certificates/cards awarded as part of a prize will be subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the issuer and are valid only on the date(s) printed on the tickets or gift certificates/cards.  Other restrictions may apply.

 

  1. Entry Conditions and Release. By entering, each participant agrees to: (a) comply with and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Station, which are binding and final in all matters relating to this Contest; (b) release and hold harmless Station, Cumulus Media Inc., and its subsidiaries, related and affiliated companies, participating sponsors, the prize suppliers and any other organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the Contest, and each of their respective past and present officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liability, including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, including but not limited to invasion of privacy (under appropriation, intrusion, public disclosure of private facts, false light in the public eye or other legal theory), defamation, slander, libel, violation of right of publicity, infringement of trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights, property damage, or death or personal injury arising out of or relating to a participant’s entry, creation of an entry or submission of an entry, participation in the Contest, acceptance or use or misuse of prize (including any travel or activity related thereto) and/or the broadcast, exploitation or use of entry; and (c) indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liabilities (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to an entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or entrant’s acceptance, use, non-use or misuse of the prize.
  2. Except where prohibited by law, participation in the Contest constitutes winner’s consent to use by the Station and its agent of winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or biographical information (including hometown and state) for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.
  3. All state, local, federal and/or other taxes, duties, tariffs, title fees, licensing fees, or other fees for prizes awarded become the sole responsibility of the winner.  All those who win a prize or prizes valued $600 or more in any given year will be issued an IRS Form 1099 to report their winnings.
  4. General Conditions. Station reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Station’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Station in its sole discretion. Station reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Station reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Station’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
  5. Limitations of Liability. The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Station, entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use, non-use or misuse of any prize. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In event that a production, technical, programming or other error causes more than stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be claimed, Station reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.
  6. Entrant agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (ii) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved exclusively by the United States District Court or the appropriate state court located in the Station’s listening area; (iii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (iv) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Station in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the state in which the Station is located, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the state in which the Station is located or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the state in which the Station is located.
  7. Entrant’s Personal Information. Information collected from entrants is subject to Station’s Privacy Policy, which is available on the Station’s website under the “Privacy Policy” link. All entry blanks, forms, devices, and materials gathered during the course of entry, as well as all information contained therein, shall become the sole property of Station to be used, disposed of or destroyed in its sole discretion.  Station is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information entered by website users, and assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to Station’s website.
  8. Contest Results. A winners list may be obtained within thirty (30) days after the Contest Period expires by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Station identified below.

This is a personal letter from Two Feet explaining what happened on July 31st.  Please read it, and accept the invitation at the end of this post.  Suicide Stops Here.

This is what happened.

TWO FEET·FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 2018

On July 31st I tried to kill myself. After coming home from dinner, I swallowed what remained of my clonazepam prescription, drank half a bottle of Jack Daniels, cut my writs, got in a bathtub filled with water, and passed out. It’s a miracle I’m alive. And I’m thankful for it.

It’s still not exactly clear to me why I did this. Like any human action the reasons for doing something are not always easy or possible to identify. At least not real reasons. I’ve been told that sociologic studies have shown that some people who commit suicide may not even be aware of their own motivations. And that’s because it is emotions not rational thought driving the desire to die. I don’t know if I’ll ever know exactly why I did what I did.

I do know that as an artist I always set the highest standards for myself, but like everyone I questioned my work and what I was doing, and was self-critical. If I were operating normally I would have accepted my analysis of work and used it to improve. But I came to question whether I was fulfilling my own expectations. My fans seemed happy and encouraging, but I felt unsure about what I was producing. My lack of certainty began to torment me. I didn’t want to let anyone down. Didn’t want to fall short of the standards I’d set for myself. I do know that this led me to become increasingly self-critical. Which in turn led me to reject my own creativity and the music I was writing. Without being able to accept my own work, I felt inadequate and worthless. Which nobody wants to feel.

On top of this, during the preceding months, I came to feel increasingly overwhelmed and trapped. People were demanding things from every aspect of my life, both professionally and personally. I had increasing obligations that had to be met. I had previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia (which turned out to be the wrong diagnosis) and had been taking a medication known as antipsychotic for this condition. But it wasn’t helping. Almost every day I felt more and more anxious about not being able to fulfill what was being demanded of me. Especially because much of what was expected from me didn’t meet my own standards. The inability to deliver this led me to feel incredibly guilty. And anybody who has experienced feeling terribly guilty knows it is a painful, horrible feeling. Since the medication wasn’t working I turned to alcohol and other drugs to kill the pain.

I remember thinking sometime this past May that I wanted to stop taking my antipsychotic but by that time I felt so isolated I didn’t know how to express my feelings to anyone, so I stopped on my own accord. I substituted medicine with illicit drugs and alcohol. My touring schedule was hectic and I hated it. I would frequently be accosted by fans while walking around festival grounds and as my social media presence grew so did my anxiety. I felt unworthy of the attention. I never felt comfortable. I was making money now, and everyone said I should be happy, but it didn’t matter to me because I hadn’t started playing and writing and producing music to make money, but because it was what I wanted to do. It was the only thing I felt I could do. And yet I wasn’t happy. At this point I was totally lost.

I started thinking of suicide as early as June as my mental state started to collapse. Even though my song “I Feel Like I’m Drowning” was headed for number one on Billboard Alternative and I played on Colbert, I was in a downward spiral. I canceled festival performances (like Electric Forest) and radio shows and tried to relax. But I couldn’t. My life seemed to be flying wildly out of my control. It got to the point where I would drink all day and wake up feeling nauseous and sick. But at the same time, I had to drink and take pills to function at all. I had to kill the pain. This all culminated somehow with the idea that in order to kill the pain once and for all I had to kill myself. Which I attempted to do…

In the hospital I was diagnosed with “bi-polar disorder.” A distinctly different diagnosis from schizophrenia. I was prescribed a new drug. After about a week of medication and therapy I began to feel better and was subsequently released. I’m now in therapy.

Mental illnesses are strange phenomenon. Unlike diabetes or cancers where one can isolate and identify the cause of the problem, there are no definitive markers other than the person’s behavior. And even a person’s behavior can be difficult to decode by professional therapists, friends, or loved ones. Many people think that committing suicide is only something that people do when everything is going badly, not when everything is going well. But that’s a misperception. Think of how many people we have recently lost whose lives, judged from the outside, seemed to be great successes. People don’t realize that while your record is number one on alternative radio, your life may be one of pain and depression. The warning signs of depression—excessive drinking and use of illicit drugs—as I’ve learned, can be ignored by yourself and those around you. And the more you try to cover up your “self-treatment plan” the more isolated and dangerous you become to yourself. Especially when rather than reaching out for help you continue to hide your pain out pride or shame. I’m lucky to still be here.

I’m still inspired to continue doing what I love. That doesn’t mean I’m “cured” it just means I’ve come to some understanding of what led to me to do the “unthinkable.” I now have a new medication plan and a therapy goal that I’m working towards. I’m also working, at the same time, to better evaluate my feelings and the demands put upon me. The narrative of the story I pursued on my own ended badly. And I don’t want my story to end just yet. I have a renewed sense of energy and purpose. I want to continue to make great music.

Regardless of the progress we’ve made in openly discussing mental health issues there is still a stigma attached to them. I was embarrassed to reach out, and tried to “treat” myself through drugs and alcohol. My recent experience has showed me this doesn’t work. If you ever find yourself in a position where life seems to be closing in, like I did, don’t hesitate to call out to others, seek help. No matter what. It may save your life.

Rahm Emanuel will not be seeking a third term

This morning, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced he will not be running for re-election in 2019.  The Chicago Tribune says he had already raised more than $10 million for another run for a four-year term.  Maybe he can put that money towards refunding all those questionable red light camera tickets…

On my first day as Mayor of this great city, I promised to make tough choices and face the hard truths we had not confronted, even when it hurts. Every day for the past seven and a half years, that is what I have tried my best to do – to improve our schools, make our community colleges relevant, put our fiscal house on stable footing, confront violence and rebuild trust between police and community, modernize our transportation systems, invest in our neighborhood parks and libraries and grow our economy into an engine of jobs and opportunity for all. I’m not shy, and together we’ve never shied away from a challenge. 

Today, the time has come to make another tough choice. As much as I love this job and will always love this city and its residents, I have decided not to seek re-election. 

This has been the job of a lifetime, but it is not a job for a lifetime. You hire us to get things done – and pass the torch when we’ve done our best to do what you hired us to do. 

I have approached public service the only way I know how for the last 23 years—giving 100 percent, 24 hours a day, seven days a week—for President Clinton, in Congress and in its leadership, as President Obama’s Chief of Staff and finally as your Mayor. For the last seven and a half years I’ve given my all every day and left everything on the field. This commitment has required significant sacrifice all around. Now, with our three kids in college, Amy and I have decided it is time for us to write a new chapter together. 

In a few moments, I’ll speak to my Cabinet, and tell them to get ready to sprint for the finish line in May. We have more to do, and from now until then, we’ll do everything in our power to get it done and walk out the door hopefully leaving Chicago and Chicagoans in a stronger place. We will stand ready and eager to work with whoever is lucky enough to come next and ensure a smooth and positive transition. We owe our city nothing less. 

But today I want to thank the people of Chicago for the opportunity to serve. It will fill my eyes with tears to leave a job I love, and already my heart is full with gratitude. We have worked together. We have celebrated progress together. We have grieved together. Amy and I made friendships across this city that will last a lifetime. 

I want to thank Amy for being such a remarkable First Lady. We’ve been together for 27 years. When we got married, I told her I would never run for office. Six elections later, she’s the only reason I have made it this far. 

We’re blessed with three great children, and I owe them so much as well. Politicians always say they’re leaving office to spend more time with their family. My kids were smart enough to see that coming and scattered to the two coasts, so as of the other day we are now empty nesters. 

Amy and I are still young – and Amy still looks it. And we look forward to writing that next chapter in our journey together.

I’ll always be here for the future of this city – not as mayor, but in the most important role anyone can play, as citizen. I hope I’ll find ways to answer the call I’ve asked of every citizen: to do my part to stand up for the next generation, who deserve the doors of opportunity to be open and the spark of hope to light their eyes. 

I’m grateful to my parents for lighting that spark in me. And I want to thank my grandfather, who at the age of 13, took an enormous chance a century ago by immigrating here from Eastern Europe, fleeing the pogroms, to meet a third cousin he did not know in a city whose name he could not pronounce. 

In four congressional runs on the North and Northwest Sides – and in two races for Mayor – you cast aside old history and voted for a Jewish kid with the middle name Israel. I will always be profoundly grateful for that and what it means to my family. 

This morning, as we start a new school year, I went to Bronzeville Classical to welcome students back for the start of a new school year and to Perez Elementary to mark the opening of universal full day pre-K in Chicago. The changes we have made to our school system – universal full day pre-K, universal kindergarten and a longer school day and year will add up to nearly four more years of class time for Chicago’s students. In the end of the day what matters most in public life is four more years for our children, not four more years for me. 

Together, since May of 2011, through thick and thin, we tried to do right by our city’s future. No matter how difficult the path we never wavered or shrunk from our responsibilities. And I will never forget the honor it has been to serve alongside you the people of Chicago every step of the way. 

From the bottom of my heart: Thank you. God bless you. And God bless the people of Chicago.

At one point, Blockbuster stores were everywhere. My dad would bring us to the Blockbuster on Pulaski ave somewhere in Evergreen Park, almost every Friday and I would beg him to let me rent everything as we spent an hour so simply strolling through the aisles and picking out what we wanted. It was an communal experience but with the advent of digital streaming services like Netflix, the era of Blockbuster and renting videos is all but dead. There is only one remaining Blockbuster operating in America, and this week the Verge went to Bend, orgeon to see how this odd store operates today and what it has that Netflix does not.

The Foo Fighters were forced to reschedule dates on their current massive ‘Concrete & Gold’ tour this week due Dave Grohl losing his voice on September 1st during a show at Seattle’s Safeco Field. This affects their shows north of the border in Edmonton and Calgary, and Grohl always charismatic joked his way through the hurdle. In a statement explaining the rescheduled dates, Grohl goofed “That’s the last time I make out with Bono”. U2 recently had to reschedule a Berlin show after Bono suffered a “complete loss of voice” .

U2’s Bono was forced to cut a show short after only a few songs, while on stage in Berlin, Germany. He stated he did not know exactly what happened, but he didn’t feel he could sing.

The Irish legend got good news from that his vocal ailment was only temporary, and the band would be able to resume touring shortly.

“So happy and relieved that anything serious has been ruled out,My relief is tempered by the knowledge that the Berlin audience were so inconvenienced. There was an amazing atmosphere in the house, it was going to be one of those unforgettable nights but not for this reason. … We can’t wait to get back there on November 13.” said Bono in a statement.

A complete copy of these rules can be obtained at the offices of radio station WKQX (“Station”), owned or operated by Cumulus Media Holdings Inc. or one of its subsidiary companies, 455 N. CityFront Plaza, Chicago, IL 60611, during normal business hours Monday through Friday or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the above address.

The Station will conduct the WKQX-FM “grandson in The Lounge Text” Contest (the “Contest”) substantially as described in these rules, and by participating, each participant agrees as follows:

 

  1. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chance of winning.   Void where prohibited.  All federal, state, and local regulations apply.
  2. This Contest is open only to legal U.S. residents, excluding Florida and New York residents, age eighteen (18) years or older (19 in Alabama and 21 in Mississippi) at the time of entry with a valid Social Security number and who reside in the Station’s Designated Market Area (“DMA”) as defined by Nielsen Audio, who have not won a prize from the Station in the last 30 days or a prize valued at $500 or more in the last 60 days, and whose immediate family members or household members have not won a prize from the Station in the last 30 days or a prize valued at $500 or more in the last 60 days.  Void where prohibited by law.  Employees of Cumulus Media Holdings Inc., its parent company, affiliates, related entities and subsidiaries, promotional sponsors, prize providers, advertising agencies, other radio stations serving the Station’s DMA, and the immediate family members and household members of all such employees are not eligible to participate.   3. Contest Period. The Contest will begin at 12:00 pm CT on Monday, September 3, 2018 and will run through 11:59 am CT on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 (the “Contest Period”).  The Station’s computer is the official time keeping device for this Contest.
  4. How to Enter. To enter:

  6. Online: Send an e-mail with the title Nothing But Thieves in The Lounge during the Contest Period, to [email protected] containing your Legal Name, Phone Number, Date of Birth, and Address in the body of the e-mail.  All entries must be received by 11:59 am CT on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 to be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. Limit one (1) entry per person per email address.  Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any participant to submit more than one (1) entry per day by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entry and the participant may be disqualified.  Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Station is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, inappropriate or misdirected registrations, all of which will be disqualified.  In the event of a dispute as to any registration, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the participant. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned the telephone number by the wireless carrier or an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.  Potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder. All entries become the sole and exclusive property of Station and will not be returned.  Station reserves the right to contact entrants and all other individuals whose email address is submitted as part of this promotion.  No mail-in entries will be accepted.
  7. Winner Selection. At approximately 1:00 pm CT on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Station will select ten (10) entries for the Grand Prize in a random drawing from among all valid entries received by Station during the Contest Period.  The winning entrant will be contacted using the email address and/or telephone number provided with the entry and may be awarded the prize (subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these rules). Station’s decisions as to the administration and operation of the Contest and the selection of the potential winner are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.  Failure to respond to the initial verification contact within three (3) days of notification will result in disqualification.
  8. Verification of Potential Winner. THE ELIGIBILITY OF ALL POTENTIAL CONTEST WINNERS IS SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY STATION WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE CONTEST. The potential winner must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. The potential winner may be notified by email and/or telephone call after the date of random drawing and/or winner determination. The potential winner will be required to sign and return to Station, within three (3) days of the date notice is sent, an affidavit of eligibility and a liability/publicity release (except where prohibited) in order to claim his/her prize, if applicable.  A winner who returns the affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release will be deemed to have accepted the contest prize and thereafter will not be permitted to rescind their acceptance of the prize and/or return the prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the affidavit of eligibility and/or the liability/publicity release within the required time period (if applicable), or if the prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize. In the event that the potential winner of a prize is disqualified for any reason, Station may award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries.    
  9. Grand Prize. Ten (10) Grand Prizes will be awarded in this Contest.  Each Grand Prize is two (2) passes to see grandson in The Lounge perform on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Station’s studios, 455 N. CityFront Plaza, Chicago, IL 60611. Winner is responsible for all taxes associated with prize receipt and/or use.  Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on a number of factors including the number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period and listeners participating at any given time.

There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that the Station may, at its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash.  The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses.  Any tickets and/or gift certificates/cards awarded as part of a prize will be subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the issuer and are valid only on the date(s) printed on the tickets or gift certificates/cards.  Other restrictions may apply.

  4. General Conditions. Station reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Station’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Station in its sole discretion. Station reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Station, entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use, non-use or misuse of any prize. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In event that a production, technical, programming or other error causes more than stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be claimed, Station reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.

Entrant agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (ii) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved exclusively by the United States District Court or the appropriate state court located in the Station’s listening area; (iii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (iv) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All entry blanks, forms, devices, and materials gathered during the course of entry, as well as all information contained therein, shall become the sole property of Station to be used, disposed of or destroyed in its sole discretion. A complete copy of these rules can be obtained at the offices of radio station WKQX (“Station”), owned or operated by Cumulus Media Holdings Inc. or one of its subsidiary companies, 455 N. CityFront Plaza, Chicago, IL 60611, during normal business hours Monday through Friday or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the above address.

The Station will conduct the WKQX-FM “grandson Best Seat In The House Text” Contest (the “Contest”) substantially as described in these rules, and by participating, each participant agrees as follows:

 

  1. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chance of winning.   Void where prohibited.  All federal, state, and local regulations apply.
  2. This Contest is open only to legal U.S. residents, excluding Florida and New York residents, age eighteen (18) years or older (19 in Alabama and 21 in Mississippi) at the time of entry with a valid Social Security number and who reside in the Station’s Designated Market Area (“DMA”) as defined by Nielsen Audio, who have not won a prize from the Station in the last 30 days or a prize valued at $500 or more in the last 60 days, and whose immediate family members or household members have not won a prize from the Station in the last 30 days or a prize valued at $500 or more in the last 60 days.  Void where prohibited by law.  Employees of Cumulus Media Holdings Inc., its parent company, affiliates, related entities and subsidiaries, promotional sponsors, prize providers, advertising agencies, other radio stations serving the Station’s DMA, and the immediate family members and household members of all such employees are not eligible to participate. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents and step-parents, siblings and step-siblings, and children and stepchildren. The term “household members” refers to people who share the same residence at least three (3) months out of the year. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.   3. Contest Period. The Contest will begin at 12:00 pm CT on Monday, September 3, 2018 and will run through 11:59 am CT on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 (the “Contest Period”).  The Station’s computer is the official time keeping device for this Contest.
  4. How to Enter. To enter:

Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same telephone number. Any attempt by any participant to submit more than one (1) entry by using multiple/different telephone phone numbers, identities, or any other methods will void that participant from further participation in the Sweepstakes.
  6. Online: Send an e-mail with the title grandson Best Seat In The House during the Contest Period, to [email protected] containing your Legal Name, Phone Number, Date of Birth, and Address in the body of the e-mail.  All entries must be received by 11:59 am CT on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 to be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. Limit one (1) entry per person per email address.  Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any participant to submit more than one (1) entry per day by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entry and the participant may be disqualified.  Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Station is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, inappropriate or misdirected registrations, all of which will be disqualified.  In the event of a dispute as to any registration, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the participant. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned the telephone number by the wireless carrier or an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.  Potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder. All entries become the sole and exclusive property of Station and will not be returned.  Station reserves the right to contact entrants and all other individuals whose email address is submitted as part of this promotion.  No mail-in entries will be accepted.
  7. Winner Selection. At approximately 1:00 pm CT on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Station will select one (1) entry for the Grand Prize in a random drawing from among all valid entries received by Station during the Contest Period.  The winning entrant will be contacted using the email address and/or telephone number provided with the entry and may be awarded the prize (subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these rules). Station’s decisions as to the administration and operation of the Contest and the selection of the potential winner are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.  Failure to respond to the initial verification contact within three (3) days of notification will result in disqualification.
  8. Verification of Potential Winner. THE ELIGIBILITY OF ALL POTENTIAL CONTEST WINNERS IS SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY STATION WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE CONTEST. The potential winner must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. The potential winner may be notified by email and/or telephone call after the date of random drawing and/or winner determination. The potential winner will be required to sign and return to Station, within three (3) days of the date notice is sent, an affidavit of eligibility and a liability/publicity release (except where prohibited) in order to claim his/her prize, if applicable.  A winner who returns the affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release will be deemed to have accepted the contest prize and thereafter will not be permitted to rescind their acceptance of the prize and/or return the prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the affidavit of eligibility and/or the liability/publicity release within the required time period (if applicable), or if the prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize. In the event that the potential winner of a prize is disqualified for any reason, Station may award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries.    
  9. Grand Prize. One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded in this Contest.  Each Grand Prize is two (2) passes to see grandson in The Lounge perform on Thursday, September 11, 2018 at the Station’s studios, 455 N. CityFront Plaza, Chicago, IL 60611. Winner is responsible for all taxes associated with prize receipt and/or use.  Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on a number of factors including the number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period and listeners participating at any given time.

There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that the Station may, at its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash.  The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses.  Any tickets and/or gift certificates/cards awarded as part of a prize will be subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the issuer and are valid only on the date(s) printed on the tickets or gift certificates/cards.  Other restrictions may apply.

 

  1. Entry Conditions and Release. In event that a production, technical, programming or other error causes more than stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be claimed, Station reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.
  6. Before Wrigley Field, watch Fall Out Boy play a packed Knights Of Columbus in 2003

When your band starting out and climbing you way up from shows with no audience to shows with bigger audiences, the idea that your going to play a prestigious baseball stadium like Wrigley Field can not be a reasonable thought but it certainly can be a dream. Next weekend, a dream for many Fall Out Boy fans becomes a reality when they pride of Wilmette takes the stage at the ‘Friendly Confines’.

It’s been such an important moment for FOB that they released a new EP aptly titled ‘Lake Effect Kid’.

Before they became a worldwide sensation, FOB climbed their way up by their suburban boot straps, building a dedicating following locally before venturing far from the 630, 773, 708, and 312s they were used to. This video with wonky audio oozes that era when Chicago got to have this wondrous band to ourselves before we had to share them with everyone else. It shows the band on Halloween 2003 playing a packed audience who is singing every single world and crowd surfing to the ceiling on the sweaty Knights of Columbus in Arlington Heights,IL.
