The Marvel Cinematic Universe crash lands in the 1990s with “Captain Marvel.” Watch the trailer for outer space action! Skrulls! Jude Law! Young Nick Fury!
This is super cool: A horn-based instrumental version of the Nirvana classic “In Bloom,” performed by Trombone Shorty and guest drummer DAVE GROHL. As Rolling Stone notes, it’s only the second time Grohl’s played the song since Kurt Cobain died (the first was when Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in ’14).
Coming this week to Video On Demand, the least Disney-looking mermaid movie ever…
Amazon’s checkout-free convenience store is HERE! Located on 113 S Franklin St, the store opens at 7am and closes at 8PM, Monday through Friday BUT it’s closed Saturday and Sunday so you need to check it out during the week. The grab-and-go store will offer quick snacks, ready-to-go breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Amazon Meal Kits, which enable you to make a home-cooked dinner for two in about 30 minutes. That’s pretty cool! I am intrigued.
Check it out and tell me what you think! – Tim Virgin
We’re less than 100 days from Christmas, and we just saw the first new Christmas candy of the season. And it’s GLORIOUS … I think.
A company called Archie McPhee that makes, quote, “strange and amazing things” just started selling mac and cheese-flavored candy canes. That’s right. Cheese-flavored yellow- and white-striped candy. Cool?
If you’re interested, you can get a six pack of them for $5 at Archie McPhee.com. There is also other fun flavors like “Rotisserie Chicken” and “Bacon” too!
The President of Party, The Czar of ‘Za, the Ambassador of Riot Fest Andrew W.K. talks about his 7th consecutive appearance, getting the key to Douglas Park, how he is going to out party last year’s onstage nuptials, Riot Fest food vendor suggestions and definitively decides What’s Partier. Enjoy!

I was lucky enough to sing the national anthem at Wrigley Field when I was senior in high school. From that moment forward, I was cemented as a Cubs fan for life. You have your own fan moment as well, no doubt. All Cubs fans do. As the team stated at the beginning of the year, the roster is millions deep (#EverybodyIn).
And it turns out you don’t need to be a season ticket holder, a big corporation, or have MILLIONS to get to Wrigley for the playoffs.
Anyone who puts down a $50 is eligible to be selected at random to buy tickets at some point this fall (you know, if they finish their season well and indeed make the post-season). If you don’t get chosen, you get your deposit back. That simple.
Here is the link you need to hit up for the ticket opportunity. And if you win, please remember your radio friend who tipped you off to the information 😉 — [eric]

Yeah, it sucks that Blink-182 had to pull out of Riot Fest due to drummer Travis Barker’s health issue (more on that here), but it made our collective pop punking hearts glow not once but twice last night in Douglas Park when both Weezer and Young the Giant covered the trio. The tricky thing is that both bands who had ripping sets both covered the same track ‘All The Small Things’. So we got all nerdy and want to know which when catches your ears more?
Much thanks to @yuliasarag for capturing this clip from Weezer’s rad set which also included their hit Toto cover of ‘Africa’ plus snippets from Green Day, the Turtles, and more.

It’s been 18 years since Billy, James and Jimmy released an album together. That changes on November 16 when The Smashing Pumpkins release Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1/ LP: No Past, No Future, No Sun. The album consists of 8 songs produced by Rick Rubin. You’ll want to get to know them before the Pumpkins hit the stage at the Aragon for night 2 of The Nights We Stole Christmas 11/30!
