The daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love has a two-record deal with Colombia — and might this be part of one of the songs we hear from her debut? As you can hear — and see, in the lyrics posted to her million + followers on Instagram — the subject matter is definitely an emotional one. — [eric]

Will Ferrell and the movie Elf taught us all the four essential food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup. And thanks to Miss Ricky’s diner, in the Virgin Hotel Chicago — you can sit down and fill your belly with a bit of holiday cheer. WARNING: it’s not on the blue plate special — $15 — but if you are big fan of the movie and you and some friends pool your resources together….you can all partake in the most sickeningly-sweet dessert you will ever have, as shown below. — [eric]

lovelytheband stopped by The Lounge for a quick performance before they hit the stage at the Aragon for The Nights We Stole Christmas!

Meet and greet photos from our visit with lovelytheband at The Lounge.
Buried in the news of a Smashing Pumpkins pop-up shop for this weekend’s appearance at The Nights We Stole Christmas…was the fact that its location will be the new home of the Double Door.
The above photo greeted Pumpkins fans as they shopped for exclusive merch at 1050 W. Wilson Ave. in Uptown. It’s been confirmed by many news outlets now that indeed the famed concert venue will be returning to Chicago, at what once-upon-a-time was an old theater.
After being forced to vacate their long standing home in Wicker Park in 2017 — and replaced by a Yeti store this year — Double Door is going to be back. And it will create a triangle of venues — including the Riviera, Aragon Ballroom, and the rebirth of the Double Door. I’m excited for the future. — [eric]

Hour 2
Well, as if the Nights We Stole Christmas were not filled with enough fun, we got a surprise last night at a sold-out Aragon Ballroom as Tim McIlrath of Rise Against joined the Smashing Pumpkins to deliver a rousing cover of the Cars ‘Dangerous Type’. It was two gigantic forces in Chicago alternative music coming together to pay homage to Rock & Roll Hall of Famers in grand fashion. Youtube account ZepCowboy captured the whole special moment.
Referring to McIlRath, “He’s a good man” said James Iha on stage after the final notes. We completely agree. Let’s go down memory lane shall we…..
Rise Against headlined TNWSC last year, so it was special to have them back.
Tim joined us in the summer of 2017 for a special Lounge session where he performed solo acoustic and shared the in-depth story of some of RA’s most emotional tracks.
Watch this private performance and interview with CHVRCHES before they play a sold-out TNWSC show, all thanks to Capitol One! Share the link to this performance with your friends and fellow fans of Scottland’s finest! The band shared stories about their experience watching the Smashing Pumpkins at the Nights We Stole Christmas, how they met Billy Corgan in their teens, and they get really into ‘heavy metal yoga’, It’s a very fun playful session that is a must watch for any fan.

It’s that time of year… starting at midnight tonight, pay attention to where you’re parking between 3-7 a.m.
Chicago’s winter overnight parking ban is back, stretching across more than 100 miles of city streets. Violators face a veritable buffet of fines, including: $150 towing fee, $60 ticket and storage fees of $20/day.
And just so we’re all on the same page, this ban is in addition to the parking ban that’s in place for when there are at least two inches of snow on the street.
More info from Streets and San here.
Soon enough, the holiday season will be behind us and it will be time to think about Valentine’s Day. Just to float the idea now: “Happy Death Day 2 U” is scheduled for a Valentine’s Day release. Who says romance is dead?
“Trash Bat” is a newly-released AFI song that will be on the band’s new EP, “Missing Man,” out next week. “Missing Man” is the band’s first EP release since “The Days of The Phoenix” in 2001.
