You asked for it, so here is Justin’s family recipe for your Super Bowl Sunday. He’s spilling all his families secrets.
Justin’s Secret Jalapeno Popper Recipe
Cut and clean 25 Jalapenos in half and place on cookie sheet covered in foil.
Mix 2 containers of Philadelphia cream cheese with Tony’s Creole Seasoning…Season to taste.
Stuff/fill jalapenos with cream cheese and tony’s mixture.
Cut thick bacon big enough to cover entire jalapeno.
Sprinkle brown sugar on top of bacon on each jalepeno..sugar to taste. I use a lot.
Put a tray of jalapenos fully dressed in a smoker for 30ish minutes or until jalapenos are almost soft.
Take them out of the smoker and finish in the oven at 350Â degrees until the jalapenos are to the texture you prefer.
(If you do not have a smoker you can use liquid smoke but be careful how much you use. If you go this route with the liquid smoke mix it in the cream cheese and Tony’s. Again, a little bit goes a long way.)
Enjoy!

A man in Minnesota is accused of throwing a meth-fueled “death party” as a way to ‘help’ his ailing wife.
58-year-old Duane Arden Johnson is facing charges of criminal neglect, theft, and recieving stolen property. He’s being held at Brown County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
But why did he do it?
His wife, 69-year-old Debra Lynn Johson, was sick and he did not get his wife medical help because she did not want to die in a nursing home.
Responding authorities reported how they found the phrase “Death Parde God Hell” spray-painted on the front door, along with a naked Duane Johnson and several guns with hundreds of round of ammunition. Duane came out yelling how his wife was dead before running back inside where they found him in a bathtub trying to wash little white and black things from his body.
Debra had passed away that morning but he waited to call 911 to make sure she was dead. He told authorities that his wife begged him to take her home to die, so he and his wife had a ‘death party’. They rocked out to Quiet Riot’s “Metal Health,” took methamphetamines and had sex.
When she passed he said how he washed her and wrapped her in linen’s ‘like the Bible told me to do.”
Now back to the guns, it didn’t have anything to do with his dying wife but he did tell investigators how he had 47 guns total, many which were stolen.
Sweet that he wanted to make her last days the best day’s, let’s hope they both spent their last time together happy.
As Chicago’s temperatures sunk down into a record-breaking low, many of Chicago’s homeless were still out fighting to stay warm.
70 people had set up tents in a makeshift camp on Roosevelt Road, near the Dan Ryan Expressway. Where they used donated propane tanks to keep themselves warm.
This took a turn when one of the 100 donated tanks ended up exploding.
The Chicago Fire Department responded to the fire, and thankfully no one was injured. ” When we got there, the fire was extinguished and they found all the propane cylinders. That’s when we escalated it to a Level 1 Hazmat.” said Cheif Walter Schroeder.
Salvation Army spokeswoman Jacquline Rachev was called by the city to made preparations to move the makeshift camp into the Salvation Arm warming center.
But about an hour later the city called them again to stop making the preparations, as someone paid for them to stay at a South Side hotel for the rest of the week.
It’s unclear who was responsible for this act of kindness, as they choose to remain nameless, but it has caused others to share and help those in need.
A Reddit user wanted to help the homeless and shared a post offering to cover a night at a hotel. Saying, “I know it’s not much but at least it’ll let you sleep in a warm bed and take a warm shower.”
It’s unclear which hotel they are staying at but it’s said to be on the South Side.
As it still remains cold make sure to check on those who may need help. <3

Rise Against “Swing Life Away”
Yeah, this one fits just right. Tim McIllrath of Chicago’s very own Rise Against wrote this love letter of a song to the his younger years in punk house during sweaty summers near the beach on the Northside. When you can’t hang out on your porch that is when you dream about hanging out on your porch? Here is a special version performed in out Lounge.
2. Weezer – “Island In the Sun”
Well this is easy right? Weezer really got toes-a-tapping with this dreamy tune of finding that special place which is likely not outside anywhere in Chicago during this weather right now. Imagine it, the at spot right by Adler Planetarium where you can see the entire sky line but it’s July.
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Tell Me Baby”Â
Now the obvious inclination with this list would be to go with one of the MANY RHCP songs that mention the warm bliss of California, but this song from ‘Stadium Arcadium’ is about the idea of California: chasing the dream in the hot sun in the city of stars. And you are rubbing your hands together constantly, you
3. Foster the People ‘Worst Nites’
A funky dance track? What are you trying to pull here? This fresh track you have heard on 101WKQX recently from LA alt boogie boys Foster the People expresses the stress and anxiety of being in a big city and finding positive energy in all the hustle and bustle. Plus this video is one of the best I have seen in ages.
4. The Flaming Lips ‘it’s Summertime’
For decades psychedelic dapper dudes the Flaming Lips have always been able to paint a picture. The picture here is clear an introspective moment with butter flys flapping, crickets in the air, and breezy air. Ah, mellow vibes when you hear Wayne Coyne sing “look outside, i know you will recognize it’s summertime”.
5. David Bowie ‘Life On Mars’
Today it’s warmer on the planet Mars, than it is in Chicago. Don’t believe me, read this. That flew my escapist mind into the hits of the godfather of alternative rock, David Bowie. According the mind hive Genius, this song tells the tale of a young girl who wants to go the movies, but her parents are against it. There is probably a lot of things we all want to do (go on a date, get a haircut, go to the movies, etc) but this weather is inhibited our lives in this direct way. So what’s life like on the other side of all this?
If you have been hearing loud BOOMS in the Chicagoland area it may an “ICE QUAKE”!
According to Smithsonian.com,  “Water expands when it freezes and when it expands in frozen soil it literally puts a lot of stress on that dirt and will release that energy all of a sudden, very much like an earthquake releases that energy and shifts the ground,”
Tyson Foods is recalling more than 36,000 pounds of chicken nuggets over possible rubber contamination. Some consumers have reported finding bits of soft blue plastic or rubber in the nuggets.
The recall applies to five-pound bags of Tyson White Meat Panko Chicken Nuggets with a ‘best if used by’ date of Nov. 26, 2019.
The product can be returned to the point of purchase for a refund.
The “big game” is nearly here, which means Americans will be loading up on chicken wings.
In fact, the National Chicken Council says Americans will consume about 1.3 BILLION wings this Sunday. Many restaurants and bars say the takeout orders are already coming in.
Pizza is also a popular choice, with Pizza Hut planning on selling about 2 million pizzas on Sunday.
And food isn’t the only thing football fans are spending money on – millions will be buying a brand new TV just for the big game.
Blink-182 has left Chicago with a collective pop-punk bated breathe. Due to a persistent health issue with drummer Travis Barker following a car accident, the iconic band pulled out of last year’s Riot Fest last yearand other festival dates in the midwest as they closed out the touring cycle for their latest album ‘California’. So when are we going to get this new Blink music and what might it sound like?
“After playing in this band for 27 years, I want to push it and do different things and take blink to places where we haven’t been before,” Hoppus explained to Kerrang. “We’re really trying to do that on the new record. We want to do with our band what we did in 2003 with Untitled, where we take our foundations and go off in completely weird directions.”
So the guys are in similar place to where they were with their 2003 ‘Blink 182’ album? Oh this should be good, as that was one of the band’s most progressive albums.
Meanwhile, current Blink member Matt Skiba has been busy with his other band, you know, one of the best bands out of Chicago, Alkaline Trio. They just wrapped a 4-night run of sold-out shows at the Metro and delivered one of our most memorable sessions in the Lounge. Watch it below, where Skiba revealed the pace of work on the new Blink album.
Pizza Hut has announced that it will give a year of free pizza and Super Bowl LIV tickets to the first baby born after the kickoff in the upcoming face-off between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.
To win, parents with a baby born during the game simply need to post a photo on Twitter of their newest arrival (including exact time of birth) tagging @PizzaHut in the post and using the hashtags #PizzaHutSpecialDelivery and #promotion. Hope the parents puree the kid’s pizza first!
“This Super Bowl Sunday, the Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL is taking its commitment to overdeliver even further by celebrating families that are literally delivering during Super Bowl LIII – awarding the family with the first baby born during the game with free pizza for one year and a pair of tickets to Super LIV Bowl in 2020.”Â
Tom Morello’s put out a new video for “Every Step That I Take,” a song that he dedicated to Chris Cornell. The song, featuring Portugal. The Man and Whethan, comes from Morello’s latest album, “The Atlas Underground.”
Well, it happened… we set the record for THE COLDEST DAY EVER. Record lows were set today at O’Hare (-22, shattering the previous record of -15) and Rockford (-24; the old record was -29).
Obviously, if you can, STAY INSIDE. The wind chill warning for temps between -45 and -60 is here to stay through tomorrow morning.
With Chicago’s weather plunging around negative 22 degrees a lot of restaurants and bars are closed.
Eater Chicago compiled a list of restaurants that are closed due to the extreme cold.
Some restaurants include: Kuma’s Corner (all locations), Goose Island Clybourn, Frio Gelato (all locations), Emporium Arcade Bar, Marie’s Pizza and Liquors, Over Easy Cafe, Garcia’s (all locations),  Replay Beer & Bourbon. These are only a few the list has about 240 names!
Scientists are claiming the world’s second-leading cause of death may soon be history. Cancer researchers in Israel have announced they expect to cure cancer within the year. Dr. Ilan Morad tells the Jerusalem Post a new treatment called MuTaTo uses “cancer-targeting peptides for each cancer cell at the same time combined with a strong peptide toxin that would kill cancer cells specifically.” He says the treatment will require just one dose to completely rid a patient of cancer.
Critics aren’t so sure. The Daily Mail points out that the researchers’ study was only performed in mice and human trials would take years to initiate and complete. Beyond that, with all the different types of cancers, critics say it’s unlikely that one cure will be able to wipe them all out.
The temperatures in Chicago today are historic and punishing. With that, it’s important to know how to identify and treat frostbite.
Usually frostbite can be treated, but if not taken care of it can lead to “permanent numbness or tingling, joint stiffness, or muscle weakness.” It has even led to amputation in certain cases.
One loses color and feeling when experiencing frostbite. Areas that are most commonly impacted are the “nose, ears, cheeks, chin, fingers or toes.” If you’re affected, make sure to apply warm water on the affected area for 20-30 minutes and elevate any affected limb. Do not put dry heat on, or massage, the area. Also keep off of your feet or toes if they are affected. Stay away from drinking alcohol (the Malort can wait) and do not break any blisters.

We have been granted with a gift that we don’t need, didn’t ask for, but it so worth it. It’s a twitter thread that had John Mulaney quotes describing punk-pop bands.
I PRESENT TO YOU. MY VERY SMALL AUDIENCE. POP PUNK BANDS OF THE 2000S AS JOHN MULANEY QUOTES.
Mark Wahlberg’s burger joint is coming to River North. Eater reports Wahlburgers will land at 2 E. Ontario in March, with a St. Charles location to follow.
The menu is pretty consistent with other restaurants in the category, though we absolutely want to try “The Beast” and “Thanksgiving Turkey Burger.” Maybe with a Mexican Coke.
