Men Fined After Eating Squirrels To Protest Veganism

Two men have been charged after staging a dedicated, if disturbing, ‘anti-vegan’ protest at a London street market. Police say the duo stood in front of a vegan stand and ate dead squirrels, declaring that they were ‘raising awareness about the dangers of not eating meat’. According to court documents, the squirrels were raw with the fur still attached and the surrounding crowd was begging them to stop. The protesters, one of whom was wearing a shirt that said ‘Veganism = Malnutrition’, were charged with disorderly behavior and fined a total of $750.

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Station in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the state in which the Station is located, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the state in which the Station is located or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the state in which the Station is located.

In-N-Out of your hood there buddy

There is a well-known burger “beef” between the east coast and west coast surrounding their respective exclusive hamburger joints. On the east coast, you have Shake Shack, home of the ShackBurger. On the West Coast, there’s In-N-Out, where you can get your burger animal style.

Whether you rep Shake Shack or In-N-Out you always respect the territory where they sling their patties.

That is until Saturday…

Untouched, perfectly wrapped, no answers. NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA WHERE THIS MYSTERIOUS SANDWICH CAME FROM.

Is this some kind of sign? Is the burger turf war finally over? Will peace prevail!?

We’ll all know soon… or we won’t because no one knows how this burger got there, so oh well!

Twitter trolls, don’t mess with the CTA

So someone decided to diss the CTA and they weren’t takin’ it.

The user has since deleted the tweet but of course, someone got a screenshot in before it was gone.

But they had the best response, one that wasn’t too harsh but just the right amount to hopefully kick the user off their high horse.

Fantastic Four are finally coming to the MCU

We have been getting tons of nerd movie news out of this week’s Comic Con in San Diego, including yesterday’s big announcement of the next phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe at a jam packed panel with Marvel Studio leaders. One thing that was mentioned  for the huge crowd was reported by ComingSoon.net and it may been lost in yesterday’s Phase 4 freak outs, the Fantastic Four are finally joining the MCU on the Disney side.

The Fantastic Four have been integral characters in the history of Marvel Comics, after being created by Stan Lee as the first super team in the universe of characters. Yes, before their was the Avengers there was the Four. Here is the character’s origins and how they came to be from their 1961 debut.

The Fantastic Four were under Fox studio movie rights for their past three films, but Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige revealed that the otherworldly astronauts turned super-powered will now fall under the MCU banner. No information has been revealed on a cast, a screenwriter, or a director for the planned film.

The 2005 and 2007 films were big budget takes on the Human Torch, the Thing, Mr. Fantastic, and the Invisible Woman but have you heard about the basement financed version directed by B-movie veteran Roger Corman? Watch the so-bad-it-may-be-good trailer here.

Privacy concerns with the photo aging FaceApp

The viral sensation of the past week FaceApp that makes all your friends get visually accurate aged photos for their social media, but apparently all the fun of seeing yourself at 80 has fallen apart with a lot of different privacy concerns. Internet Today reported on the fine language in the privacy release and how when you use the app could be manipulated or used for purposes like using your photo for ‘deep fake’ footage where you could be doing something you have never done. The app can also reportedly access your contacts and any more media on your phone….ANY OTHER MEDIA! Note this video has some NSFW language (watch here), but maybe you should check it out if you are into giving away a ton of private info.

The Atlantic did an in-depth look into the app, who is operating, and how the data in it could be used in a way users never expected. They were pretty blunt about whether or not you should have the app: “Yes, you should stop using FaceApp, because there are few controls on how your data, including your face data, will be used.” You can read the entire article here.

Mamby on the Beach festival cancelled due to endangered birds

Mamby on the Beach, the beach-front music festival scheduled for Chicago’s Montrose Beach in late August has been cancelled this week due to discovery of Great Lakes Piping Plover shorebirds who are federally protected species. A pair of the rare birds have made their home on the fest’s location. This is believed to be the first time Plover birds have nested in the Chicago area in 60 years. Two specific birds have been reported in the area for months now by the Chicago Sun-Times, and a few eggs have hatched there earlier this week.

“Despite working tirelessly with the Chicago Park District and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services to find a new location, moving the festival at this late a date, while still providing a superior beach event experience, would be impossible and a disservice to fans and artists alike,” organizers of Mamby on the Beach said in a statement ran by Consequence of Sound.

On July 12th, another nature related issues was reported to be contributing to the cancellation by ABC 7 who stated this year’s summer season water level were too high on Lake Michigan for the festival site.

Refunds to ticket holders of this year’s Mamby are expected to be processed within in five to 10 business days. This year’s planned Mamby lineup included BROCKHAMPTON, Phantogram Santigold, Troye Sivan,Sylvan Esso, and more.

Marvel confirms next round of movies

Marvel Studios took to the stage at Comic-Con today to announce the next wave of Marvel movies.

“Phase Four” begins as expected with “Black Widow,” which has a release date of 5/1/20. “The Eternals” follows on November 6, 2020. The Eternals cast includes Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie.

February 21, 2021 brings “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” the studio’s first martial arts movie. The villain will be the real Mandarin, not the bogus one we saw in Iron Man 3.

Just a few months later, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” hits theaters, which was described on stage at Comic-Con as “the first scary MCU movie.” Scarlet Witch from the Avengers will appear in the Doctor Strange sequel.

Rounding out the 2021 film slate: Thor 4, more specifically, “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Also: NATALIE PORTMAN WILL BE THOR.

The panel ended with announcements that Fantastic Four, Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Captain Marvel 2 are all on the way. And oh yeah, so’s a new “Blade” movie!

Green Day posts photo clue about….something.

We were rumored to get new Green Day music this week, but that ended up being false.  Instead, we got….this.  One photo posted to the three individual Instagram accounts of Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt yesterday [7/19].

Is this a clue about a new song?  The name of a new album?  We shall see.  — [eric]

BEETLEJUICE II

There have been a $#^&load of new (remake/sequel) trailers out just in the past couple days; Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, IT, Top GunTWO Halloween sequels…

So it seemed totally normal when the trailer for Beetlejuice II popped up in my timeline.  I mean, Winona Rider DID say it was happening on Seth Myers.

Apparently, this is a fan made fake trailer, but it actually looks pretty good.

Oh well.  Maybe it will push them to get on with the real thing!

‘Halloween’ sequels on the way

Two sequels to last year’s “Halloween” franchise reboot are on deck for the next two years. “Halloween Kills” comes out in October, 2020 and “Halloween Ends” will be released one year later. Jason Blum, of Blumhouse, confirmed everything in a tweet today:

Airline Apologizes For Tweeting Where You Are Most Likely To Die On A Plane

Someone in the KLM Airlines social media department has a lot of explaining to do. In a now-deleted tweet, KLM India wrote, “According to data studies by Time, the fatality rate for the seats in the middle of the plane is the highest. However, the fatality rate for the seats in the front is marginally lesser and is least for seats at the rear third of a plane.” Twitter users criticized the bad timing of the post. The message was tweeted on the 5th anniversary of the crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 that killed 298 people. The post was followed by an apology and a message that said, “The post was based on a publicly available aviation fact, and isn’t a @KLM opinion. It was never our intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments. The post has since been deleted.”
