It’s Official, David Ross in as Cubs manager

Grandpa Rossy is getting a three-year contract with a team option for 2023, according to the Cubs. He will be officially introduced at a news conference Monday.

“I’m honored by this opportunity to be the next manager of the Chicago Cubs. My time with this organization has been special since the day I joined, so to continue with the club in this role is a blessing for which I’m so very thankful. We have accomplished so much together since 2015, and my desire to lead this organization to another World Series championship could not be any stronger.

A lot has been made, and rightfully so, of my connection to the 2016 World Series team, and the notion that I’ll now be managing the players I once counted on as teammates,” he said in a statement. “Having those relationships going into this will be a bonus, no doubt about it. But those guys know I’ll be the first to hold them accountable, the first to demand their best daily effort and the first to let them know about it if they give anything but their best. I never had a problem dishing out a lot of tough love as their teammate, and that won’t change as their manager,” Ross said in a statement Thursday. “We’ll have our fair share of fun along the way, but working hard as a team, playing fundamental team baseball and winning a lot of games will be out top priorities.

There will be people I want to thank on Monday, but for today I’d especially like to thank my family and two of my mentors, Bobby Cox and Joe Maddon for their guidance and support throughout the years. I’d also like to thank the Ricketts family, Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer and the Cubs for this opportunity of a lifetime. Now let’s get to work.”

Car crash saves couple’s lives

Phoenix police released a video that plays heavy into the idea of bringing blindside blocking back into the NFL.

A suspected drunk driver completely blew through a red light, luckily though a car happened to be turning left ( the fullback of the road) at the green at the light.

Right before the drunk driver had a chance to run over the couple crossing the street the left side (strong side) car caused a hardcore and firey crash!

This driver must have watched The Blindside in their drivers-ed class.

Shredder wins over millions in heartwarming video

We’ve never seen anything quite this heartwarming. A seven-year-old in Brazil with cerebral palsy was built this skate contraption by Skate Anima in Brazil and his badass mother helped him shred around their local skatepark.

Will David Ross be the next Cubs manager?

While the contract hasn\’t been finalized yet, the Cubs are reportedly hiring catcher David Ross as their next manager.

Cubs President Theo Epstein told the Chicago Tribune, “It’s an obvious goal, but we want to make sure the players we have, we’re developing them and creating an environment where they can continue to grow and thrive. If we have players who can be successful major-league players, we have to find a way to make it here.”

After numerous interviews with former managers and current coaches, they appear to have landed on Ross. Though he doesn\’t have any formal manager experience on his resume, he\’s demonstrated his leadership skills throughout his career.

McKamey Manor in Summertown, Tennessee is ground zero for scary scenarios this Halloween season. The scariest haunted house in the world requires a sports physical, a background check, and a 40-page waiver to even enter the park

Owner Russ McKamey notes that the price of admission is relatively cheap, but finishing the thrill ride nets you $20,000. This year, the visitors must watch a two-hour video called “And Then There Were None” which details how no one has ever been able to finish the park.

We at the KQX Morning Crew volunteer to send Justin to McKamey Manor. Not only do we think he can survive, but we think he might like it there. He might even volunteer to live there once he’s done with the haunted house.

Millions have watched the trailer released last night for ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’, and speculated on all the plot points. Beyond the Trailer broke down the entire trailer shot by shot with what could be ahead in this movie which follows ‘the Last Jedi’ and ‘the Force Awakens’.

It’s already selling tickets for it’s December in-theater debut at a rate faster than ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

If You Could Eat Like a Kid for a Full Day, What Would You Eat?

Remember when you were young, and that extra cupcake DIDN’T go straight to your thighs or gut? 2,000 people were asked what they’d eat if they could “eat like a kid” for a whole day with no consequences.

And here’s what the average American’s full day of kid meals would look like: We’d start out with yogurt for breakfast . . . followed by pizza for lunch . . . ice cream as a mid-day snack… pizza AGAIN for dinner . . . then apple pie for dessert.

Yes, the average person would have pizza TWICE.

The breakfast foods with the most votes were yogurt . . . bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwiches . . . and ice cream.

For lunch, the top choices were pizza . . . fried chicken . . . and burgers.
and for dinner, the foods with the most votes were pizza . . . fried chicken . . . and spaghetti and meatballs.

Where are cops hiding? Google Maps can tell you.

Police aren’t too happy with Google since it decided to roll out traffic/navigation app Waze on Google Maps. Waze has long been criticized by law enforcement for allowing app users to report where police are located. Waze users share info on car wrecks, traffic jams, lane closures and more, but police worry that the tool will enable crime like theft and drunk-driving, since criminals would know which areas to avoid. Others say this will lead to more transparency between police and communities.

Joker is laughing to bank with box-office records

Despite  all the controversy over it’s depiction of mental health and reported of fear around screenings, ‘Joker’ is becoming the most successful R-rated movie of all time.  With current estimates, IGN is reporting that the DC Comics inspired film starring Joaquin Phoenix will pass up 2016’s Deadpool that earned $783 million in world ticket sales. That’s a lot of money considering the film has not been out that long, too. Also factor in the Oscar buzz around Phoenix’s performance, it’s a good time to be the bad guy.

Todd Phillips who was known for directing raunchy comedies, really delivered with this film’s dark take on a previously established character. In this video, he breaks down the opening scene and how it came together to create a specific vibe to build to later in the movie.
