Dildos are not an essential item!

Amazon workers are beginning to walk out on their jobs due to concerns for their health inside their distribution centers.

Some workers are upset that the company decides to keep the distribution centers open to sell non essential items to people, putting the workers at risk of contracting COVID-19.

Maybe he has a point here…

Let’s be mindful when ordering things online right now.

101WKQX’s Kevin got on ‘The Tonight Show’ ….sort of

If you are comedian, you want to be on the ‘Tonight Show’. It’s a fact like water being wet, fire being hot, and Chicago having the best pizza in the world. It’s still a lofty goal to attain, and getting there is the creative equivalent of getting to Mars. Well, I didn’t get on ‘the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ but I got on a piece of paper that got on the ‘Tonight Show’. If you need to know where to watch, scroll to 7:22.

My thanks to Jimmy Fallon, his team, and his wonderful wife who is doubling as his cameraman. Fallon is entertaining for the quarantined people who are pent up and need a laugh. Everyone at 101WKQX is trying to do the same on air, on our social media, and anywhere else we can.

In the past, I have enjoyed blending the heart-warming holiday humor of Home Alone with my KQX family. Check out my ‘Kevin Alone’ sketches from the past few years.

Stay home (listen to us if you are alone) and be safe.

101WKQX: Kevin is Home Alone?!

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals! Just like the movie #HomeAlone, Kevin (me) wished everyone away because they ate his pizza, now he's up to no good! Spread the fun by sharing it! -Kevin

White Sox broadcaster Ed Farmer passes away

Ed Farmer the longtime broadcast voice for the Chicago White Sox has passed away at 70. Farmer spent 11 years in MLB, which included three seasons on the mound with the White Sox. He would join the Sox broadcast team in 1992.

Farmer grew up on the south side in Evergreen Park, and attended St. Rita where he played baseball as a tall 6’5. Farmer grew up with genetic kidney disorder which affected him during his pro baseball career, and he would eventually need a kidney transplant by his brother. He also overcame a speech disorder as a child.

The Chicago Tribune wrote a wonderful piece covering Farmer’s life in and out of baseball with some touching stories of his career including how he broke an opposing batter’s jaw with a pitch. Read that here.

A wonderful FREE resource for parents who have also become teachers

A lot of parents, myself included, have recently added another title to their repertoire: teacher.

With the likelihood that schools will remain closed through the end of the school year, families and educators are facing an unprecedented challenge to educate and entertain kids and maintain social connection, and to make sure that all students have access to online learning and engagement. Wide Open School aims to make learning from home an experience that is accessible to all and that truly engages kids and teachers, relieves family stress, and restores community in the face of long-term school closures and other shutdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Wide Open School Partners Include American Federation of Teachers, Amplify, Apple, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Comcast, Google, Head Start, Khan Academy, National Geographic, Noggin, PBS, Salesforce, Scholastic, Sesame Workshop, Time for Kids, YouTube, XQ Institute, and Zoom Video Communications, Inc.

With tools like a daily schedule, exercises, live events, “field trips,” and of course math, reading and writing, science, social studies, art, music, life skills, emotional well-being and even special needs programs, this free resource is priceless.

Check it out!

stay safe  <3 Lauren

‘Train to Busan’ sequel on the way

Warning… this may not be everybody’s cup of tea in the midst of a pandemic. However, as horror streaming service Shudder posts record sign-up numbers, there seems to be an increased appetite for horror diversions like this.

“Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula” dropped a teaser trailer, and it looks fantastic. The original “Train to Busan” stands as one of the best modern zombie movies (and is available on Netflix). This sequel, set years after the original, looks really promising. No release date yet… but you expected that.

Lou Malnati’s had the best April Fools prank

I think we all agreed to kind of skip April Fools this year because of the whole virus thing, but Lou Malnati’s couldn’t help themselves.

So they went out and ‘pranked’ a bunch of people by leaving them free pizza on their doorstep.

They called it deep dish ding dong dish.

This is awesome!

Why didn’t I get deep dish ding dong ditched though 🙁

Good on you Lou Malnati’s!

Tom DeLonge is back with another alien sighting

Tom DeLonge SWEARS he saw a UFO, and he finally has some proof to show it!

Now personally I think this looks like an orange light in the sky from like…. I mean anything, there’s a lot of junk up in the sky.

So last night I get a text from somebody that there was a UAP right off of the beach where I live. I ran to my balcony and saw it split into two pieces and raise vertically. I grabbed Marie, jumped in my truck and went straight down to the beach. We were the only ones on the beach last night as this light disappeared, reappeared, broke into three pieces and stacked vertically with one little red dot flying around the top and then disappeared for the rest of the evening. This video doesn’t show much, but we were up quite late watching the light dance about a half a mile to a mile off of the beach. It was huge, and it was fiery orange. Of course I called up Lue Elizondo as I was there, and he was telling me all of these things I was supposed to do with location, geographic details, weather, altitude and distance etc. Of course, I was completely worthless when it came to those details. But yes, big deal last night in Encinitas, CA. Lue checked immediately, there were no flights in the area except one that I had my eyes on the entire time. No military, no boats, and a bunch of hovering lights that were stacking on top of each other… wild. Who knows…

I mean, make your own opinion here.

I guess if Tom DeLonge says it’s an alien, it has to be an alien right?

He is an expert after all!

OJ Simpson thinks Tiger King’s Carole Baskins got away with murder!

Hello twitter world! It’s yours truly.

Now I am not saying that OJ Simpson knows about getting away with murder.

That has NOTHING to do with his take that Carole Baskins, who is accused in Netflix’s latest hit documentary Tiger King of feeding her husband to the tigers that she keeps on her property, is guilty of murder!

But if anyone WOULD know about possibly murdering a spouse…

Also get off the golf course OJ.

Social distancing man. C’mon now.

Five Things to Look Forward to in April

It feels like everything’s been canceled because of the crisis.  But here are five things you can STILL look forward to in April . . .

1.  First and foremost:  Experts think we’ll see the number of coronavirus cases start to trend DOWN later this month.  Probably peaking in about two weeks.  So stay safe, hang tight, and remember it won’t last forever.

2.  Sports are on hold right now.  But WrestleMania is happening this weekend.  And the first round of the NFL Draft is still scheduled for April 23rd.

3.  April 15th won’t be as stressful this year now that Tax Day is July 15th.  Instead, look forward to STIMULUS CHECKS hopefully hitting bank accounts later this month.

4.  There’s a ton of TV to watch:  The “Modern Family” finale is next Wednesday.  The “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” reboot starts the same night.  The new “Bachelor” spin-off “Listen to Your Heart” lands April 13th.  The sixth season of “Bosch” hits Amazon Prime on April 17th.  And “The Grammy Salute to Prince” airs April 21st.

5.  The holidays:  Obviously the big one is Easter on April 12th.  But tomorrow is National Burrito Day . . . National Beer Day is April 7th . . . Passover starts April 8th . . . National Pet Day is April 11th . . . and Earth Day is April 22nd.

And since everyone’s working from home right now, this last one is easier to celebrate than ever . . . April 16th is “Wear Pajamas to Work Day.”

Mountain goats take over town amid lockdown

Goats taking over a town? This has to be some kind of a sign right? Like the end is near type stuff.

This town in Wales is on lockdown due to COVID-19 concerns and this has given the mountain goats that live above the town to come down and frolic among the humans streets.

Ok goats, enjoy the streets while you can, but just remember, you’re on our turf.

So watch out.

Stupid goats…

A message from Mayor Lori Lightfoot

Lori Lightfoot is becoming quite the meme queen.

She was memed out after closing all beaches, and the river walk.

She said that her and her family were having fun looking at the memes.

But Lori is back with some NEW PSA fire for your eyes and ears to enjoy!

Is Lori Lightfoot Chicago’s mayor or meme queen??

Either way, let’s listen to Mayor Lightfoot… STAY HOME

Is social distancing working in Chicago?

Chicagoans are doing their part to help flatten the curve!

New data from researchers tracking peoples travel distances throughout Cook county via their cellphone shows great news.

The average distance of 3.4 miles of travel has plummeted down to just .03 miles since March 9th!

It’s working!!

GOOD JOB CHICAGO! Keep doing your job and STAY HOME!

Stay happy and healthy!

Tiger King Update

Here is everything that’s happened since Tiger King has hit the masses.

Spoilers obviously.

So, if you watched the documentary you know that Carol “hey cool cats and kittens” is accused of killing her husband and feeding him to the tigers.

Well, the police are now looking for new leads on his disappearance!

Joe Exotic is suing… well everyone for his incarceration, and most importantly John Finlay (Joe Exotic’s ex) HAS NEW TEETH!!

Yes I have my teeth fixed. The producers of the Netflix series had video and pictures of this, but chose not to show it.

WHAT!

Now his charm is gone 🙁

Stay tuned cool cats and kittens because I bet this story is far from over yet.
