Best and worst of Simpsons video games

The Simpsons have become an all encompassing culture gravitational pull of beloved characters with episodes we have watched over and over, The citizens of Springfield have made the leap off TV into thousands of other adaptions in comics, puzzles, and other fun products but what drew you here is video games. Triple Jump made this delightfully deep dive into the console video games of the long running animated treasure from the clunky graphics of ‘Simpsons Wresting’ to it’s grand button-mashing memories on Super Nintendo.

My personal favorite is the arcade 4-player game from the early 90’s, Fun sweaty nights at the nerd heaven that is Galloping Ghost in Brookfeild. were spent in years gone by with friends help me play along because I could not pull my weight or rather swing Marge’s vacuum weapon effectively.

Earl Thomas held at gunpoint after found naked in bed with his brother!

There is a lot going on here, so let’s catch you up.

NFL star and player of the Baltimore Ravens Earl Thomas was involved in a violent altercation with his wife Nina back in April where the he was actually held at gunpoint by his wife.

The two had been fighting earlier in the day after which Earl Thomas left his home and was picked up by his brother Seth.

Nina was so upset that she hacked her way into Thomas’s snapchat account where she found videos from another woman.

Nina tracked down Thomas to a local Airbnb in their hometown of Austin, Texas where she expected to find Earl and a woman.

She did find the two in bed… but she also found Earl’s brother Seth naked in bed with them too!

So what does Nina do… well she chases Earl around with a gun, yes she took the magazine out of the gun, but she didn’t realize there was a bullet in the chamber.

Luckily the police showed up before anyone got hurt, and Nina was arrested, but jeez what a weird situation to be in!

Here is what Earl Thomas has to say about the situation.

Yikes! Toilet flushes during the middle of supreme court battle

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done on a zoom meeting?

For this lawyer arguing over the phone, in a Supreme Court battle mind you, this has to take the cake.

Now either technology is so advanced that his phone picked up the toilet somehow….

Or this lawyer was arguing his case while on the porcelain throne.

Yikes!!

When you gotta go, you gotta go!!!

Black Mirror creator: Unsure if audience could ‘stomach’ new episodes right now

Black Mirror, the tech ‘Twilight Zone-like show that’s been just plausible enough to be completely unnerving, won’t be returning anytime soon. Creator Charlie Brooker says the pandemic has soured his enthusiasm for working on new episodes. He tells RadioTimes, “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart.”

In the meantime, he says he’s working on scripts that make him laugh.

Baseball is back…

…but in South Korea.

Games are back on in South Korea, where the Korea Baseball Organization played five games yesterday.

That said, the games are definitely a reflection of the pandemic times:

  • They played to empty stadiums (no fans allowed).
  • No spitting is allowed. So much for players sticking that wad of chew in their mouths.
  • Masks are required for umps and coaches and optional for players.
  • Media and players have mandatory temperature checks before being allowed in.

If you’re missing your baseball fix, ESPN’s made a deal to air six games a week here.

NASA Says Tom Cruise Will Make a Movie on the International Space Station

It sounds like those rumors about TOM CRUISE making a movie in space were true.

Yesterday, a NASA administrator Tweeted, quote, “NASA is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the [International Space Station].

“We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make NASA’s ambitious plans a reality.

If this happens, it’ll be the first narrative, non-documentary film to be shot in space

What did Elon Musk name his kid??

Elon Musk and girlfriend Grimes welcomed a new born baby into the world, and the name they chose…

Not Geoff, not Jack, not Cletus.

They named it X Æ A-12.

No that’s not your computer glitching. That is a name… apparently.

So Grimes later posted the meaning behind the name, and no it still doesn’t make sense.

X Æ A-12 is going to have a very interesting first day of school. Especially since the teachers are going to have to solve a calculus problem just to pronounce this name.

Welcome to the world X Æ A-12! Good luck!

Stream hundreds of hours of 1980’s MTV

MTV changed the music world when it debuted in 1981 with it’s original culture impact bringing new adventurous music to the masses with wild visuals and an overall sense of cool. A wonderful person has revived all of that fun as it aired on TV with all of the VJ’s, interviews, outdated commercials, and of course the music videos featured in hundreds of hours of video posted on Internet Archive. Yeah, you won’t see any of reality shows that the channel is known for now. You can dive into this treasure trove of content here.

The first video in the collection shows MTV as it first signed on the air on August 1, 1981 with the epic moon landing themed opening that saw the Bungles ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’ as the first music video aired on the network.

Currently you can watch the footage for free which is not HD obviously, but it has a charming grainy VHS quality to it and you get see all of the memorable shows like the alternative music showcase ‘120 Minutess’, ‘Headbangers Ball’, and much more. The collection does require a log in, and it runs from 1981 to 1989. This is a must-see for any music fan even the younger crowd who just know MTV for everything post-2000.

If you want more 80’s and 90’s alternative musical gifts, listen to ALT_Backspace with Brian Phillips (Saturdays 6a-8a, Sundays 10a-12p) on 101WKQX. Stream us anywhere in the world on your phone, smart speakers, Alexa, and  the radio which we can confirm was not killed by the video star despite what you’ve heard.

Monkey on a mini bike tries to steal a kid off the street

There is a lot going on in this video. Not really sure how these events can all happen at the same time.

Apparently there are monkeys out there who can ride mini bikes… and they steal children?

You know what in this day and age, why am I even questioning anything.
