Henry Cavill has portrayed Superman well in three blockbuster DC Cinematic Universe films, with the films themselves have gotten mixed reactions but could the British actor return the role? It seemed less likely after 2017’s ‘Justice League’ was blasted down at the box office, but with the undeniable hype around director Zack Synder getting the long sought-after re-cut of the superhero team-up, there is now new hope that Cavill could put the cape on again. Deadline reported yesterday Cavill is in negations to appear once more in a DCCU release in the future.
The article notes that a Superman ‘Man of Steel 2’ sequel is not happening. Wonder Woman 1984 is already done. The last son of Krypton could appear in ‘the Batman’. Superman did appear in ;Shazam’ but not portrayed by Cavill, could he be in the planned ‘Shazam 2’ pr maybe he gets into action with Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson’s ‘Black Atom’. Comic Book Cast breaks it all down in the video above.
Why pick a new color to paint your house on your own when you could leave the decision up to millions of strangers.
A guy named Brian Landreth in Portland, Oregon was working with his daughter Grace on a school project about collecting data. So they put five paint colors on the side of their house, then put a sign up asking people to vote for a color online.
But . . . their neighbor tweeted a picture of the project and said, quote, “My neighbor is crowdsourcing their next house color” and the tweet went viral. So now, thousands of people from all over the world are voting on the paint color.
Based on the comments on Twitter, it seems like turquoise blue is leading.
This is… impressive work. Twitter user @tonygoldmark tweeted his Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline today, mapping out every one of the movies’ scenes. This is a quarantine-inspired miracle.
Well nerds, I fuckin' did it.
Took me a global pandemic and a damn quarantine, but I did it.
I figured out the precise chronological order of all the MCU movies (so far) BY SCENE.
You wouldn’t be wrong for saying that getting a hot pizza from Home Run Inn restaurant location is a deeply rewarding experience, but there’s a lot to be said for their frozen pizza. In a word, it’s awesome. And it’s no surprise that it’s been in high demand as we’ve all been sheltering in place.
According to the Tribune, Home Run Inn started cranking out the frozen pizzas seven days a week on March 16. The result? Close to 80,000 pizzas a day. That’s an almost 33% increase from before the days of COVID-19.
The Trib also notes that none of Home Run Inn’s roughly 500 employees have been furloughed or laid off, thanks to a federal Payroll Protection Program.
As businesses begin the process of reopening, it was only a matter of time before movie theaters began to put their reopening plans in place.
Since seats in movie theaters are so close together, look for the number of moviegoers allowed into theaters to be limited. Some managers have even talked about implementing a “checkerboard” seating style.
Another change in seating being talked about is not allowing someone to sit in the same seat as someone from a previous showing, so that seats can be properly sanitized between shows. None of the big chains are putting a date on reopening, but those conversations are definitely well under way.
Some people admitted to letting personal hygiene slide a bit during coronavirus quarantine. A survey done in late March, when many of the stay-at-home orders hit the country, found that 1 in 3 people admitted to showering less. 1 in 5 said they brushed their teeth less often. There was also less laundry done during stay-at-home.
Six Flags will reopen its parks soon, including Great America. Things will definitely be different, with new safety measures in place. Some of the changes:
Reservations are required
All guests will have to have their temperatures taken
Face coverings are required for everyone
Touchless bag checks upon entry
Social distancing will be observed in queue lines
Here’s the announcement tweet from Six Flags:
We’ve been working hard to create a safe experience for everyone as we prepare to reopen. Here’s what you need to know about our NEW safety measures. pic.twitter.com/aKJkQHElKW
YouTuber Creezy has been building Rube Goldberg machines since 2014. His latest is a mind-bending basketball trickshot that has to be seen to be believed!
The media world is being tested (101WKQX included) with many hosts and reporters pushing out their work from home with all the distractions that come with being at home. This is great highlight from Inside Edition about all the different ways that TV news reporters and weathermen working from home have had on-air bloopers with their dogs jumping into a shot, a crying daughter, or one in one case: not wearing pants?!
While we are on news reporters losing their cool live on air, watch this memorable sketch starring Bill Hader on SNL.
Streaming concerts are all the rage while can’t attend them in person. The fate of Lollapalooza is supposed to determined this week, and we wonder when we will be able to go somewhere together again physically but through the wondrous endless portal that is the web there is a lot of online offerings for streaming concerts. Here are the best ones this week coming up: It’s worth noting that many of these streams have charities tied in, so please don’t forget to try and donate whatever you can to the worthy causes.
WHAT’S COMING UP:
Weekdays on the 101WKQX Facebook page at 12pm CST and 8pm CST you can enjoy Quarantine Concerts with some of the biggest names in alternative. We have had everyone in there from Panic! At the Disco, the Offispring, the 1975, Cold War Kids, and many more who can all enjoy on-demand anytime here on 101WKQX.COM.
Dropkick Murphys were one of the first band’s to-do fully live streamed no-fans performance when their annual St. Patrick’s Day show in their hometown of Boston was cancelled. Now the boys have uped the anty with the Boss. The Murphs will be joined by Bruce Springsteen for a special empty Fenway Park performance on May 29th. Cue you doing an impression of every character in ‘the Depaerted’.
WHAT YOU CAN WATCH RIGHT NOW:
Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie for months now (yeah, that’s how long this has been going on) has been doing solo acoustic shows on Youtube featuring covers, deep cuts, and hit songs from his band’s catalog. He even penned a stressed-out quarantine anthem. Here he is performing it on the Late Show.
Foo Fighters have rocked the world over and over, but until we get to see them at Wrigley Field , check out this epic show they delivered in the UK in 2008 at Wembley Stadium.
Seperately, Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins joined Dan from Bastille, Simon from Biffy Clyro, Ben from Royal Blood, YUNGBLUD, Rag’n’Bone Man, Chris Martin from Coldplay and more join together virtually to cover Foo Fighter’s Times Like These from their respective homes to raise money for BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief and the WHO’s COVID-19-Solidarity Response Fund. You can watch that here and yes, it’s ok to cry while watching it:
Looking for the louder side? Metallica have been offering a lot of complete shows on YouTube every Monday from their lengthy career including a very special set from their early days at Chicago’s beloved Metro in 1983.
Mark Rober, popular YouTube who utilizes his background in science to make exceptional content has made quite the piece of content: a squirrel-proof bird feeder that morphed into a obstacle course for the fuzzy tailed yard critter you need to see.
If you are a Weezer fan (and/or enjoy all this live music happening direct from the homes of artists) — and you haven’t hit up Island In The Zoom, then what the heck are you even doing?
I don’t know if the weekly covers from Billie Joe from Green Day were the inspiration, but Rivers decided to cover “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life).” And look who joined him! It’s his wife, Kyoko — who is normally pretty private and out of the spotlight. (Come to think of it, she kinda still is — considering we just see her from the back while she does the song’s string parts on the piano.🙂)
The new album Van Weezerhas been pushed back — but at least we have performances like this to tide us over. — [eric]
Twenty One Pilots had their live debut of “Level Of Concern” on last night’s TheTonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. It has a refreshing outdoor setting, and a special appearance from a cuddly-looking character that should be familiar to TØP fans. One question, though — how does one make lemonade through e-mail, as Tyler suggests?
