Comedy champ Bert Kreischer touring drive-in theaters

Well with a lot of entertainment and music videos shuttered due to COVID-19 safety regulations, the drive-in movie theater is having a revival coast-to-coast and it’s not just movies on a screen, several live performances are going to be held for those viewing from their mini-vans including comedy champion Bret Kreischer.

‘The Machine’ rolled out a wave of dates at drive-in theaters this week with the closest to Chicago being Indianapolis at Tibbs Drive-In on June 26th with an early show and a late show at 10:30 local time. You can get tickets here.

More and more of our beloved bands have been finding ways to adapt to the challenging ‘new normal’ including the pride of Zion and WKQX friends, Local H. Scott Lucas called into our Save Our Stages radiothon a few weeks back and teased that his band would play a drive-in so it’s official now. If you never been to Gibson City, well now you have a reason to go there for H’s 2 night residency on the big screen live.

Nurse gets a great Star Wars surprise from Mark Hamill

“Chole, the force is strong with you!” said Marl Hamill who surprised Chole, a San Diego nurse on a recent episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’. It was a heart warming moment to give a needed boost to a deserving healthcare worker who has been working a in COVID-19 testing center.

It was a sponsored segment sure, but it just feels good to see things like this happen for those are STILL in the good fight.

 

With no baseball in sight, may I present — professional wiffle ball?

The opening moments of this video absolutely sucked me in.  It is a sign that I must really be missing sports.

Eight teams make up MLW Wiffle Ball — a league that on the surface appears to be a bunch of friends gathering at someone’s house to play a backyard sport.

But it is wayyyy more than that. Besides the pro-level graphics they bring to their footage, MLW has sponsors (Dick’s Sporting Goods, Giants Sunflower Seeds among others) as well as their own merch site.  That’s right — you can finally buy a game-used, autographed wiffle ball to add to your sports memorabilia collection.

Check out out some of their game highlights.  Maybe you’ll be compelled to drive to Michigan to catch a game before the 2020 season ends in late July.  Maybe you’ll just keep on going living your regular life.  In the year 2020, who even knows anymore?  — [eric] 

 

 

Jake Paul arrested in Arizona after video shows him inside mall that was being looted

Everyone’s favorite Youtuber to hate, Jake Paul, was arrested in Scottsdale Arizona following video of him inside a closed mall that was looted during protests surfaced.

Maybe they should just leave him in jail….

That might solve a lot of problems.

Porn star arrested after ‘toad venom ritual’ turns deadly

Realistically, the headline is all you need. But here goes: A Spanish porn star has been arrested after hosting a ‘spiritual ritual’ where a man died while inhaling toad venom.

Let’s unpack this. Adult film actor Nacho Vidal was arrested last week in connection with the death of fashion photographer Jose Luis Abad. Authorities say Abad died during a ‘mystic ritual’ that involved inhaling venom from the ‘Bufo alvarius,’ or Colorado River toad, known to cause psychedelic hallucinations.

Vidal and two others are facing a manslaughter investigation. Vidal “considers himself to be innocent,” according to his attorney.

Navy Pier will reopen on Wednesday

June 10 will see the reopening of Navy Pier.

The majority of Navy Pier will reopen, with the exception of the rides. That means tour boats, outdoor dining and the docks will be back in business.

Face masks will be required of all visitors, and social distancing will be enforced.

Costco samples may return soon

If you have been to Costco recently you may notice the lack of samples.

The company quickly stopped handing out samples after the pandemic broke out, but now they say samples could be back as early as next month!

This news comes with some mixed reviews…

Costco says they will have to change how they will be handing out samples to help practice social distancing.

What’s important here though is that SAMPLES ARE BACK!!!

AMC Theatres has ‘substantial doubt’ that they will remain open after pandemic

With the closing of all movie theatres across the country due to the coronavirus, one of the biggest theatre chains doubts that they will be able to recover after things clear up.

AMC Theatres has said they have ‘substantial doubt’ that they will be able to remain in business.

With on demand options, theatres were already taking a hit. Now it seems like they will not survive.

Is this the end of going to the movies??

Ben & Jerry’s calls for the dismantling of white supremacy

Ben & Jerry’s, which is loved by all ice cream eaters, is a huge supporter and advocator of civil rights in the United States and across the world.

They have made flavors of ice cream in support of movements, and are vocal supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement as well.

This is their latest statement following the murder of George Floyd.

Jennifer Aniston is auctioning off a nude portrait to raise money for coronavirus testing

Jennifer Aniston posted on her instagram that a nude portrait of herself is being included in an auction for charity.

They are raising funds to help provide COVID-19 testing in areas that are underprivileged.
