We hear the same complaint about pro athletes who have any grievance with their leagues: “You get paid millions of dollars to play a sport!” That jaded sports fan sentiment has been going on for years, but wait until those fans see this video from the Pat McAfee Show (subscribe to the podcast now) where the former NFL player breaks down pros who are getting paid on deferred contracts to do nothing. That’s millions for absolutely nothing.

These deals spread out the money from previous deals over decades, extending wealth for players well beyond their careers. Here is a graphic that McAfee’s team pulled together this graphic

Mystery person parachutes from building in Chicago

Chicago Tribune reported today on a wild site that was filmed on social media late last night, with a unknown

Michael McLean who filmed the clip at 2:30 in the morning, said the flying parachute person “turned left around the Aqua Tower … and then they went in front of Blue Cross Blue Shield building, they went in front of the Mariano’s and they landed in Lakeshore East park,”. That’s quite maneuvering in the air. almost like something out of a movie.

The parachuting person evaded being arrested for the breathe-taking sunt according to McLean, who said he was glad to see that. “I’m rooting for him.” he said.

Henry Cavill clears the air on the Superman rumors

It’s been back and forth in the entertainment news outlets about whether or not Henry Cavill will reprise the role of Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe. Cavill reportedly had a falling out with the studio behind the films, Warner Bros when he had to return to the set of ‘Justice League’ for reshoots which conflicted with his work on ‘Mission Impossible: Fallout’. Yeah, remember the weird CGI on his face to hide the mustache? Apparently he was not happy about that either, and since 2018 it seems he was no longer the big screen Superman but recently with director Zack Snyder getting to redo his ‘Justice League’ movie for HBO Max, Cavill has publicly stated his desire to play the character again.

Cavill cleared the air recently with Variety.

“The amount of speculation, the stuff I read on the Internet, is extraordinary and sometimes frustrating,” Cavill said. “It’s when you see people stating stuff as fact. Like, ‘No, that’s not the case. That hasn’t happened, and that conversation isn’t happening.’”

“But the important thing is that people are excited about it, and I think it’s important to be excited about a character like Superman. Superman is a fantastic character. If people are chatting about it, and even if they’re making stuff up, it’s okay, because that means they want to see the character again. And in an ideal world, I would absolutely love to play the character again.”

So there is still hope he’ll dawn the red and blue a few more times, but it’s just confirmed or certain when that could happen.

Rooftops back in business for Cubs games

When baseball returns to Wrigley, the rooftops around the park will be open, though at 25% capacity. The Chicago Tribune quoted the GM of a rooftop venue as saying the city has greenlit operations, but with safety restrictions in place.

Mayor Lightfoot said in a statement, “As the rooftop patios overlooking Wrigley Field are also restaurants and taverns, they are included in this overarching guidance and must operate within the guidelines established by the city in coordination with public health guidance.”

Rooftop tickets will likely go on sale once the Cubs schedule is released, which is expected soon. The Ricketts family owns the majority of the area rooftops.
