ZERO: The story behind the iconic Smashing Pumpkins tee.

I came across a Tweet from The Smashing Pumpkins — a retweet, actually — of a fan excited to finally put their hands on a ZERO shirt.  Remember this?

Kind of hard NOT to remember.  Starting in the mid 90s, THIS was the standard uniform for Billy Corgan at most every concert.  The backstory on how this came to be is pretty interesting, which FeelNumb detailed a few years back.  Among the things you can learn from the article:

  • The business from which the original ZERO t-shirt is from.
  • How ZERO morphed into a fictional character for one of the band’s albums.
  • How much an original ZERO t-shirt worn by Billy sold for on an eBay auction.

UK getting indoor concerts next month

Well, get ready to get jealous! United Kingdom prime minister Boris Johnson announced this week as part of phase 4 in a COVID-19 response plan, that live concerts will return in England  next month. These indoor performances will be held under very strict guidelines with social distancing, reduced attendance counts, online ticketing, sanitizing stations, and staggered show schedules to break up the flow. This follows news from a few weeks ago covering the opening of a very unique outdoor music venue that was designed completely with socially distancing due to COVID-19 in mind.

England has currently 294,000 reported cases of the Coronavirus.

Rise Against release expanded version of ‘the Black Market’

Watch Tim from Rise Against perform ‘People from Here’ in the LOUNGE.

Hometown heroes Rise Against released a deluxe version of their magnificent 2014 album, ‘the Black Market’ with three new tracks which had previously been released on vinyl and as b-sides on foreign singles. The  three new songs are “About Damn Time”,“We Will Never Forget” and “Escape Artists”. Lead guitarist Zach Blair called the album their darkest to date but also their most “triumphant” according to Consequence of Sound. It definitely another example of RA’s continued efforts to always evolve yet stay true to their emotional gravity in putting in the good fight for the right thing.

You can stream it here on Spotify,.

536 was the worst year ever

We have been saying it for a few months now that 2020 is “the worst year ever” but Weird History contends that year 536 with volcanic ash clouds inducing food depletion, massive climate changes, plagues taking many lives, and of course, war. Humanity always with the wars, ya know?

If you are a fan of world history this is a perfect video to look at what was the ‘worst’ time to be alive. The video also cover a Harvard study which digged into the the global catastrophe

‘Palm Springs’ on Hulu may be the best movie of 2020 …so far

A dark must-see comedy film  called ‘Palm Springs’ hit Hulu last week, and it’s maybe the best movie I have seen this year. Yeah, I didn’t see any movies in a theater in over 4 months for obvious reasons. The film, starring SNL alum Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti, is a ‘Groundhog Day’ misadventure for xennials, millenials, zoomers, etc. How do two lost souls get out of going through the same day over and over? It’s reinvents the concept with Twilight Zone vibes, earnest looks at hopelessness, and what love really means when your existence is challenged. Those elements sound like a lot of our collective experiences at the moment with COVID-19.

If you are having tough time processing the stressful times we are in, this movie will deliver a relatable and entertaining escape. It’s definitely a must-watch for anyone who had to change their wedding plans or anyone who has been dragged to a wedding they didn’t want to attend. Here are some reliable reviews from the best movie channels on YouTube to get a better look into this breakout film.

Cubs & White Sox games will have video game crowd noise

Taking a cue from European club soccer league, Major League Baseball is going to spruce up their upcoming 60 game season with dubbed in live crowd noise from the video game, ‘MLB: The Show’. In our current COVID-19 circumstances, this is another weird way that sports and entertainment are trying to replicate the feeling of a gathered human experience like fans cheering on their home team.

ESPN is reporting that MLB officials hope that this audible add-on to televised games this year with little or no fans in attendance along with the standard stadium announcers, at-bat music, and more traditional elements we could take in when attending games in person.

So here is a question: What are the Cubs going to do with the ceremonial ‘7th Inning Sttetch’? We will see come next week when the games start. Here are the best celebs including Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder to yell “1, 2, 3 strikes, you’re out at the old ball game!”.

Iceland has a world screaming broadcast to help with COVID stress

We’re all burnt out, tired of being stuck inside because of the coronavirus.

So Iceland has a solution. They have made a broadcast that is only airing people’s screams from around the world.

That’s right, you can record yourself screaming for a little bit and send it into them, and they’ll play it live on a broadcast in Iceland.

Go ahead and scream. You’ll feel better!

Nirvana playing ‘ Smells Like Teen Spirit’ a week before it’s release to the public

Imagine hearing Nirvana’s album Nevermind before anyone else. Well these lucky people at Beehive Records in Seattle back in 1991 got a sneak peak at the album with a live performance from Nirvana one week before they released the album to the public.

They got video of it too!

This is truly awesome!

Instagram’s new feature could kill TikTok

There has been rumblings for weeks that the very popular TikTok app could get banned in the Untied States due to privacy issues, so here comes Instagram to the rescue with a new feature called Reels. This feature lets users create 15-second videos set to music, just like TikTok. It will also include a countdown timer and editing tools for easier use. Reels is set to become available on IG in August. Reels has been tested in other countries like Germany, and in this video from HeyDominik explains in more in depth how it works.

It’s worth noting Reels could be shared in a more permanent way, unlike most IG content which seems to be consumed on the passive Story feature. They do have IGTV but it’s not nearly as active as other part of the Gramaverse. Remember how much IG put a dent into Snapchat? Yeah, they have a track record of skimming some vibes from a competitor and drilling into their platform in some clever way.

In an interview this week, White House adviser Peter Navarro hinted TikTok could be shut down soon in the U.S.India banned TikTok due the same concerns over.

What’s the Best Condiment at These Six Fast Food Places?

What’s the one condiment you STEAL from fast food places and hoard in your kitchen?  Someone asked people to vote on the best condiments at six different fast food places.  Here are the results…

1.  McDonald’s.  Sweet N’ Sour sauce got the most votes.  The special sauce they put on Big Macs was a close second.

2.  Subway.  Their Chipotle Southwest sauce won.  Honey Mustard and Sweet Onion tied for second.

3.  Taco Bell.  Their “Mild” sauce got twice as many votes as their “Hot” sauce, which took second.  “Fire” was third.

4.  KFC.  Their “Finger Lickin’ Good Sauce” beat their Ranch and Honey Barbecue.

5.  Chick-fil-A.  Their classic “Chick-fil-A Sauce” crushed.  Polynesian sauce was a distant second.

6.  Chipotle.  There’s a debate online if this is really a “condiment,” but their guacamole ranked first.  As far as salsas go, their Roasted Chili-Corn salsa got the most votes.

A Woman Quit Her Job to Make Six Figures a Month Acting Like a Dog for People Online

YEP!  You heard me right!

People have some CRAZY fetishes, man.  And it looks like they’ll spend BIG money on them.

There’s a 21-year-old woman named Jenna Phillips in Austin, Texas.  And she recently quit her job as an optician . . . because she found that men were paying up to six figures a month for videos of her ACTING LIKE A DOG.

Apparently that’s a fetish with a LOT of fans.  Jenna has an account on OnlyFans where she charges $20 a month for videos of her chasing balls, walking on a leash, rolling around, and taking baths . . . mostly naked.

She also makes $1,200 for custom videos.

Jenna is on pace to clear more than $1 million this year.  I’ve wasted my life.  (Daily Mirror
