Rise Against team with Batman for new song

Rise Against just released their first new song in three years as part of the soundtrack for the new DC Comics series ‘Dark Nights: Death Metal’ that features a twisted take on Batman. The track ‘Broken Dreams, Inc’ is quite the surging call-to-arms that our hometown heroes are known for in their moving music. The song could sit perfectly with anything off  2017’s ‘Wolves’ album. You can stream it here and get a look at the new series in this lyric video. You can also stream episode 1 of ‘Dark Nights’ at the bottom of this page.

Risa Against’s Tim McIlrath told us about the path the ninth record from the iconic alt-punk titans.

“‘Broken Dreams, Inc.’ speaks to today’s changing landscape of American society,” says  Mcilrath speaking with AltPress. “The opportunities that are available to some but not to others, the people who are able to benefit versus those who get left behind, who suffer and end up as casualties. How do we level the playing field so everyone can have a real chance at attaining the American Dream? One word, disruption.

You have to put power into the hands of the people, not business, you have to value people and community over profit.  You can’t have a shareholder-run country or a shareholder-run world, a world that values profit above all else, because profit above all else can result in dangerous repercussions for humankind.”

He also noted how the whole band has some fandom in comics and how his family grew up fans of DC and Batman.

Manley’s Mixtape- Blink 182

Blink 182 (pronounce eighteen two) are one of those bands thats impossible not to love.  Are they the best band? No.  Are they great musicians?  Not particularly.  Well besides Travis who is a drum god.  But are they a band that makes you smile literally every time they come on the radio?  Absolutely!  Plus one of the dudes discovered aliens, bro.  Here are a few of my favorite Blink tunes ever to add to your playlist.

Manley’s Mixtape- LCD Soundsystem

It seems as though I’ve been playing multiple LCD Soundsystem songs each day during the History of Alternative, which is great because they are one of the best electronic/alt bands ever.  Check out these tunes and if you fall in love make sure you watch Shut Up And Play The Hits, their documentary of the final (until they reunited in 2015) shows at Madison Square Garden.
