Watch the Strokes on SNL

The Strokes are rock royalty in New York City, so it made sense to have them on another Big Apple institution, Saturday Night Live on NBC. With their latest album ‘The New Abormal’ still pumping blood in our collective alt-music hearts and no live shows for the near future, why not dig into these live performances?

This week’s SNL was hosted by loveable comedy gem John Mulaney who delivered laughter about everything going on and a very NSFW Halloween themed sketch involving the Headless Horseman. Get a full review of the episode here.

Next week’s episode will be hosted by Dave Chapelle, who also hosted the first post-election episode of SNL in 2016.

AJR has their own hot sauce, to support community gardens.

AJR’s song “Bang!” is now also a hot sauce.

“Bang!” is a condiment that is uniquely New York (say that 10x fast!).  I say that because it is made from a medley of peppers from over 30 community gardens throughout the Bronx and Queens.  Those same gardens are the beneficiary of sales, too, because sales will go to direct support those local growers.  Awesome.

Toy Story gets twisted in ‘The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror XXXI

Tomorrow your Halloween candy hangover can be weened off with the anticipated ‘Treehouse of Horror’ special from ‘the Simpsons’ on FOX. These creepy episodes have been must-watch TV every October since the show debuted as a regular series in 1990. This year’s edition will see Simpsons take a spin away from their standard drawn animation feel to a slightly-off CGI that they have experimented with several times in the past but this time it will be a nod to the first breakout computer-created cartoon, Toy Story. Watch the trailer for Treehouse XXXI above.

Watch Mojo did a great job counting down the best Treehouse of Horror segments from the annual spooktacular specials. Consequence of Sound went even deeper into the grave, ranking every Halloween episode, read that here.

Sean Connery dead at 90

The OG movie James Bond, Sean Connery, died at the age of 90.

The Scottish-born actor will forever be most associated for his work in the 1960s as James Bond in classics like Goldfinger, Dr. No and From Russia With Love.

Of course, Chicagoans have a soft spot for Connery for his performance in the 1987 release “The Untouchables.”

Connery won an Oscar and three Golden Globes for his work in film.

Not for nothing, People Magazine named Sean Connery the “Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999.

‘Chapelle Show’ coming to Netflix this weekend

During its 28 episode run ‘Chapelle Show’ became one of the biggest hits in comedy in the early 2000’s and launching Dave Chapelle to the top of the entertainment mountain. It was one of those shows that everyone had to have on DVD back when people got DVDs but with streaming video changing where can you catch your fill of Chapelle’s great sketches like his memorable behind-the-scenes stories on Rick James and more? Netflix will be streaming the show starting on November 1st.

That is not the only place you can stream Chapelle and other Comedy Central greats. Consequence of Sound reported this week that ‘Chapelle Show’, ‘Nathan For You’ and ‘Reno 911’ and ‘Key & Peele’ will be available on HBO Max on Sunday as well.

Chapelle returned to stand up comedy in 2015 with the Oddball Comedy Fest tour, and if you were one of the lucky 20,000 plus when saw his return in Tinley Park at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater then you know he was back to rule the world. Since then his Netflix specials have been appointment viewing, and now we are all going to hear a lot more friends yell ‘WHAT!?’ in conversations the next few weeks

NYC man falls into sinkhole full of rats!

We might have the most rats, but at least we don’t have random 15 foot rat holes in Chicago!

I wonder if Chance the Ratter was in that rat party?

Watch where you step people!

Tenacious D rock the vote with Rocky Horror’s ‘Time Warp’

Rocky Horror Picture Show, the midnight movie theater nerd tradition of going to a movie cosplaying grandeur in the audience will be held off this Halloween but with the general election, it’s hip-shaking anthem has been pulled from the dead by Tenacious D. The comedy rock titans of fun Jack Back and Kyle Gass assembled their truly kick-ass band with many cameos from famous friends to rock-y the vote. It’s trending on YouTube for all the right reasons, it’s just fun for the spooky season and has the right message.

These ladies robbed 6 banks and led the cops on a 100 mile chase

This is a crazy story.

These two lovers robbed 6 Chicago area banks then fled to Indiana with the cops on their tails!

The two were caught in Indiana when they ran out of gas fleeing the police.

The police now have a search warrant for the lover’s home where they believe they will find $20,000 and other evidence.

This is wild!

Juwan Johnson telling his wife that he’s playing in his first NFL game is priceless

Saints Wide Receiver Juwan Johnson got word that he’s going to play in his first NFL game and shared the news with his wife.

People Keep Calling the Cops Over One Guy’s Too-Real Halloween Decorations

Here’s a sign you’ve won the Halloween decorations game.

There’s an artist in Dallas named Steven Novak who put up SUCH realistic-looking Halloween decorations that people keep calling the cops.  We’re talking bloody bodies, blood spatter, and more . . . and it all looks almost TOO REAL.

Steven says people have called the cops several times already, and he’s been home for two of those police visits.  Fortunately for him, the cops have been okay with his decorations . . . so far.  (Dallas Observer)  (Here are a bunch of photos.)
