Chicago Has Gotten TONS of Snow Recently – Just How Much Will Surprise You

After the brutal polar vortex in 2018, Chicago got through winter last year relatively unscathed (it was everything else that came after that was pretty rough). This year, though, the snow has had its revenge. At press time, Chicago has received over 48 TONS of snow over the last month.

Are you still mesmerized by the prettiness of the snow or are you sick of it? Let us know on our Facebook page what you think of it right now?

Wanted Man Turns Himself In After Hating Quarantine Guests So Much

It’s always bad when prison is a nice change of scenery. A man in Sussex was wanted on unspecified crimes but was hiding out in quarantine with some people he knew. At some point, things went awry and he decided that it was better to be in prison than to quarantine with the people he was spending time around. Apparently prison offered the “peace and quiet” that this man was looking for.

Has quarantine got you down bad as well? What’s been your breaking point throughout the last 11 months? Head on over to our Facebook page and let us know.

“Off to Prison” Party Cancelled, Thankfully

If you need your daily dose of rage, direct your anger to this story about a woman who planned on throwing herself a “Off to Prison” party before being hauled off to the slammer after a drunk driving incident that left two high school students in the hospital.

The party was supposed to be held at a local restaurant who made it clear that they were not interested in sponsoring such an event once they found out what it was. Luckily, the two victims are alive and recovering.

As citizens, we have to be better than this.

The Snow Struggles Are REAL

Poor one out for this man. We are so sick of the snow and unfortunately we know there is more on the way. The man in this TikTok has it worse than us, though.

Our feet are wet, cold, and numb just watching this video. We can’t imagine how bad it must’ve been for him in the moment, watching that clean sneaker drift away from him the same way we’ve all drifted away from sanity over the course of the last year.

WE LANDED ON MARS!

NASA has successfully landed its Perseverance rover in a deep crater near the planet’s equator called Jezero. I have no idea where that is but I want to move there. The six-wheeled vehicle will now spend at least the next two years drilling into the local rocks, looking for evidence of past life. They need to send some Discovery Channel cameras up there with the cast of GOLD RUSH because those guys would find something.

Have you heard about Dan the Great Lake Jumper?

Back in June, a hungover Dan O’Conor jumped into Lake Michigan and that was the beginning of something beautiful.  A daily pandemic polar plunge that just hit the 251-day mark to raise money for CIVLCHI to help save our stages.

Dan has documented his daily dips on twitter and instagram, maybe Brian will join him one of these days…  <3 Lauren

‘Constantine’ reboot coming to HBO Max

Constantine, the magic-based character created by DC Comics, is returning to television via HBO Max. Deadline announced that a reboot is in the works, being developed by J.J. Abrams.

Constantine most recently appeared on the CW’s “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” played by Matt Ryan. Ryan was cast as John Constantine in the short-lived “Constantine” series for NBC prior to that.

And the less said about Keanu Reeves’ turn as Constantine in the 2005 big-budget adaptation film, the better.

Soundgarden legal battle intensifies

Soundgarden vs. Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky. This is getting ugly.

TMZ reports that Vicky Cornell is suing the surviving members of Soundgarden over a buyout price. She says they offered her $300k for Chris Cornell’s share, an amount she calls a lowball. She goes on to claim that the band got an offer of 16 million dollars from an investor for the Soundgarden masters, which would mean a substantially larger dollar amount for the Cornell estate.

The band’s rep says the dollar amount offered to Vicky Cornell was properly valuated.

The finer points and details are laid out in the TMZ piece.

This is the snowiest Chicago since 1979

No, you’re not imagining it. These past few weeks have been unmatched in snowfall since the late 70s. 1979 was the last time Chicago’s had this much snow. As of Tuesday, Chicago’s experienced as much snow as it might get in an entire winter season.

And of course, as we’re typing this, it’s snowing again.

Winter storm means higher gas prices are coming

Gas prices are expected to spike 10 to 20 cents a gallon in the next few days after a winter blast knocked out about a dozen refineries in Texas. Regular unleaded gas averaged $2.54 a gallon nationally on Wednesday, up two cents from the previous day, according to AAA. The storm’s also disrupted package deliveries to customers across the country and product shipments to retailers — possibly leading to shortages of some items on shelves. Some experts say prices could creep up to around $3.00 a gallon by summer.

Drunk Shopping Goes Horribly Wrong…Or Does It?

It’s 2021 and we still don’t have drunk control on our phones and laptops. If you can hide mature TV channels from children, you should be able to hide free one-day Prime shipping from intoxicated adults. One man learned the hard way just how expensive drunk shopping can be. While it’s probably a bad thing that all of this stuff got delivered at once, it is a lot of cool stuff! He should be celebrating!

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever drunk-purchased? For our plant-friendly listeners, we want to know about your wild high purchases. Let us know on Facebook.
