Foster The People, The Knocks cover three History Of Alternative jams.

The Knocks and Foster The People have collaborated again — this time covering three classic alternative jams.

“Bittersweet Symphony” – The Verve:  Considering Richard Ashcroft just recently won back the royalties to his biggest hit, does this mean he’ll get them from Mark Foster as well?  By the way, listen to the brand new song “All About You” from The Knocks/Foster The People.  I totally get a Bittersweet Symphony vibe from it, how about you?

“Devil’s Haircut” – Beck:  Pretty true to the original, but also the guys put a little personal touch on this one.  Check it out.  And when you are done, check out Beck in the 101WKQX Lounge.

“Southside” – Moby, feat. Gwen Stefani:  Did you know that Moby said this song was inspired by his trips to Chicago and his love for the city’s house music scene?  Well, now you do.

All three versions are below for you to check out.  — [eric]

What’s the Pettiest Thing You’ve Ever Done?

The feud between a disgruntled former employee and a stifling, old boss ended in grand fashion this week. A man in Georgia put in his two weeks in November, but after feuding with his boss during his final days on the job, he never received his final payment. The worker thought his check would arrive in January, but when that didn’t happen, he gave up hope. He finally received payment in the pettiest (or penniest?) way possible.

What’s the pettiest thing you’ve ever done? Head on over to our Facebook and drop a comment explaining what you did and why you did it!

What’s Your Greatest Feat?

At the age of 52, legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk just threw down his final 540 ollie on a vert ramp, 32 years after doing it for the first time. Hawk is long retired from active competition but still is an avid member of the skate scene with his son Riley now riding professionally (and shredding). Hawk, who obviously has been the main catalyst for taking skateboarding mainstream, shows us just how much you can do with a little perseverance.

What’s your greatest feat? At the end of the day, what can you look back on and say proudly, “I did that.” Let us know over on our Facebook page!

There are rumblings within the deep crevices of society that 2000’s fashion trends like low rise jeans and skintight clothing. For some, it’s deeply concerning as they are reminded of these atrocities thanks to Facebook memories and Buzzfeed articles already. Why Did Elon Musk Turn Down $1 Million Dollars?

NFT’s are all the rage right now, but not even the world’s newly crowned richest man can fully get in on the action. Musk announced that he was going to sell one of his tweets as a NFT, but when a bidder offered him $1.1 million for the rights to the non-fungible token, Musk balked at the idea and revoked his offer, noting that it “just didn’t feel right”.

Get Free Sandwiches for Wearing a Mask

As we (hopefully) hit the tail end of this pandemic, Manny’s Deli in the South Loop is issuing a challenge to continue to keep customers safe. They said, “if we go 30 days without having to ask anyone to put a mask on or properly wear your mask, we will give away free sandwiches for the day.” The location has struggled making it past a few hours without reminding customers of their mask rule for most of the pandemic.

Please, Chicago, we need this! Mask up and eat up!

A man in Florida is feeling the brunt of a bad decision. After seeing a woman for months for botox injections, the man suggested that he get a nose job. One problem, the woman giving him the botox had no license. The amateur surgeon botched the man’s nose job not once, but twice, and then prescribed him painkillers under another doctor’s name. Karen’s Strike in Sacramento!

“This neighborhood is full of Karen’s” reads a sign hanging out in front of a home in Sacramento. A mother of 7 is sick of people calling the cops on her kids for skateboarding in front of their own house, as she should be. Skateboarding is exercise, skateboarding is fun, and skateboarding is creative. LET KIDS SKATEBOARD IN FRONT OF THEIR OWN HOME.

The Male Karen that is interviewed is completely at fault. You didn’t move into a library, pal, people live around you and they’re living their life.
