The return of Double Door keeps on rolling…

At the beginning of the year, we saw the return of Double Door to the Uptown neighborhood clear yet another hurdle:

And the latest word? Work is progressing on the project that will bring yet another music venue to the neighborhood that boasts The Riv and The Aragon.  The latest update this spring, from Block Club Chicago, can be found in the link below.  Can’t wait to see a show here….  — [eric]

Man Shoots Fridge After Soda Can Explodes

A man was arrested in America’s heartland, Yakima, Washington, after shooting his fridge after a soda can exploded. The man thought the exploding can was someone shooting at him. By that logic, that means someone within the fridge was shooting at him. What sort of “James Bond GoldenEye” logic is that?

The man later told police in an interview that the people who live in the basement wanted to kill him and that they had shot at him, so he fired in self-defense. Investigators also say there is no one that lives in the basement below the man, and that, in fact, there is no basement at all.

Illinois ‘Burger King’ Employees Owed $460K After Not Getting Paid For Sick Leave

Chicago workers are supposed to earn one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours they work under the city’s Paid Sick Leave Ordinance, which went into effect July 1, 2017. Unfortunately, But Tri City foods didn’t provide that paid sick leave to 2,473 workers at 40 Burger King locations it runs from July 2017 through November 2020, according to a Mayor’s Office news release.

Illinois’ Ban on Evictions to End August 31

After 17 months of evictions being barred in the state, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced an executive order July 23 that will allow landlords to ask a court to evict tenants who earn less than $99,000 annually — or $198,000 if a couple files jointly — and had been unable to pay rent because of the COVID-19 pandemic starting on Aug. 1.

Approximately 26,850 Chicagoans applied in May and June for $137 million in grants designed to stave off a wave of evictions and keep the lights on across Chicago, according to city officials.

Karen Sprays Man With Apple Cider Vinegar Over Stolen Mail

These Karen’s are out of control. This Karen is clearly in the wrong, but that doesn’t stop her from going on the offensive as soon as she gets called out for trying to steal this man’s mail.

This video is deadly serious and not a parody. This is as real as it gets. This is a prime example of just how raw and uncensored Karen’s can get.

With Lollapalooza on the horizon, it is important that we shine a spotlight on up-and-coming artists. There is no one quite like Sarah Brand, who is blowing up the Internet with her “Red Dress” track.

Sex-Crazed Monkey Gangs Are Brawling In The Streets Of Thailand

Any questions? I think that headline makes it pretty clear.

In reality, monkey gangs are taking over the streets of Thailand due to the lack of tourists that are visiting the country. The street monkeys in Lopburi, Thailand are notorious to the point that it is called The City of Monkeys by many. However, the monkeys have found themselves lacking food from the tourists amid the country’s third lockdown.

Unable to receive their normal feed from visitors, the monkeys were eating themselves to death through junk food or whatever they could get their hands on. Unable to eat, the monkeys went mad and turned sex-crazed. Things got so bad that the monkeys had to be sterilized.

Twitter accounts now pave the way for TV shows. The Chicago Party Aunt Twitter began in 2016 and coming soon, they’ll be launching their own Netflix show. DOING OUR PART

SUSTAINABILITY: Lollapalooza, a 2017 Illinois Sustainability Award recipient, is committed to sustainable festival practices in the field, behind the scenes and through the preservation of the ever-beautiful Grant Park. This commitment is integrated into every area of the park, from recycling and composting, to eco-friendly service items at Chow Town, and Hydration Stations that provide patrons free, filtered water, diverting millions of plastic bottles from the landfill. Additionally, Lollapalooza will use  biodiesel for all generators and equipment and will fund renewable energy projects through carbon offset purchases.

We invite attendees to join our sustainability efforts to reduce the festival’s impact on the environment by participating in recycling initiatives such as the Rock and Recycle Program, where fans can earn a commemorative Lollapalooza t-shirt, diverting waste from going into the landfill by composting your food waste and other compostables, refilling your EMPTY water bottles to reduce plastic waste and taking eco-friendly transportation to the festival.

HELP REDUCE WASTE WITH REVERB: REVERB is excited to support Lollapalooza’s efforts to build a more sustainable music industry at the festival through the Divert It! Composting program. While onsite, REVERB volunteers will be educating and engaging fans in the fight to reduce food waste, an often-overlooked driver of global climate change. Be sure to use the proper bins to dispose of your waste, recyclables and compostables at the festival.

MUSICALLY FED: Lollapalooza is pleased to partner with Musically Fed this year.  Musically Fed works with artists, promoters, management, and venues nationwide to donate unused backstage meals to community organizations that feed the homeless, hungry and food insecure. Those passionate about ending hunger can contribute to this life saving work at www.musicallyfed.org.

LOLLAPALOOZA AFTERSHOWS: This year Lollapalooza is bringing over 50 Official Aftershows featuring incredible artists to venues throughout Chicago, keeping fans rocking even after the festival gates have closed. Tickets are still available to select shows. Check out the full schedule and get tickets at www.do312.com/lollaaftershows.
