Every week we somehow find a Karen that tops the one from the week before. We’re genuinely worried about finding a dumber Karen than this one, because this is an all-timer.

Where is this Karen from? The conversation lives on Facebook!

Parents, this is a warning. When you take away an Xbox, it’s a serious addiction and the withdrawal symptoms are rough. Revenge is one of them. Watch this son melt down and take away one of his mom’s favorite things in return for banishing him from his Xbox. This is what you get, CAROL!
There’s no need to cover up the fact that you’re getting older, dudes. Here’s the thing, you’re lucky because when a man ages, you’re refined. You become more attractive, hooray for you! There’s no need to worry about those pesky grey hairs that have started to infiltrate your face. Let the grey hairs run free, it’s sexy, OK? #sexy #loveallwomen
Watch this man /freak of nature crush, tens of empty beers cans with one foot. How did he discover this hidden talent? Who knows, but I’m sure it comes in handy after large parties much to his upstairs neighbor’s dismay. It looks like he’d be great at soccer, lots of foot control there. Check it out!
Local girl, Leah Marlene got through this week’s round of auditions on American Idol! She’s from Normal, Illinois, but there’s nothing normal about her talent and abilities. Her performance of One Direction’s ‘Steal My Girl’ will make you like One Direction. We’ve got our eyes on you girl! Keep up the good work.
Pitchfork Music Festival is coming back this summer July 15-17th in Union Park! The organizers announced the lineup on Tuesday, with The National headlining Friday, Mitski on Saturday and The Roots on Sunday. Some other favorites include Low, Japanese Breakfast and Spiritualized.
“The Mount Rushmore of…” is a label commonly used to identify the best 4 in almost any field or category. Certainly, it has been used to start, break down and debate music discussions.
The Mount Rushmore of Rock, Punk, Post-Punk, Emo, New Wave….
The Mount Rushmore of bands, lead singers, solo artists, drummers, guitarists…
All are worthy and highly subjective and highly spirited discussions.
So, we’ve taken out the proverbial stones and chisels to commission an “iconic 4” for Alternative.
We agree on some, disagree on others, while adding a few surprises and “honorable mentions”.

People have found a way to directly donate to Ukrainians- AirBnB! Last Wednesday, several celebrities started the idea to “rent” out space from hosts in Kyiv. It’s a way to give directly to the people struggling in Ukraine. AirBnB has waived fees and the CEO, Brian Chesky, is also now encouraging hosts on the platform to offer their homes to refugees. In the last week, over 11,000 people have signed up to offer space in their homes. Ashton Kutcher and Ukrainian born wife, Mila Kunis, have donated 3 million dollars to the initiative.
In this video, you hear a man trying his best to win back his lady. Yeah you can try saying nice words via text, but why do that when you can sing? He serenades his ex to try to win her back and personally, this makes me want to do the opposite. Just because there’s a feature to record your voice on a text thread doesn’t mean you should do it. You be the judge. Would you go back to this man after hearing this?!
It’s official- R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” is THE saddest song of all time. Music is so much better when the emotions are real, and according to this study this particular song was the one that most people like to play when they’re sad. From the research, there’s plenty of other songs that make the list. Interestingly enough, over half of the people say that a song can have a huge impact on their mood, so be careful what you listen to day and day out!
Here’s the top ten:
A little tried to keep spirits up in Kyiv in a shelter by singing her favorite song from Frozen, “Let It Go.” As she starts, people begin to stop what they’re doing and by the end she has everyone’s undivided attention and applause. The video has been viewed more than 12 million views on Twitter; fans include the original singer of the Disney hit, Idina Menzel.
This grandma loves a good dirty joke. Most people would be mortified to speak like this in front of G-Ma, but she wants more! Take notes because these are funny…

Dr. Jeffrey Iliff is answering your questions about sleep. He’s a researcher at the University of Washington School of Medicine and is an expert in his field. Have you ever wondered how long the perfect nap should be? Or if you can catch up on sleep? He’s your sleep sensei here as he’s answering some popular questions from Twitter. By the way, there’s good naps and bad naps. If you nap, you should do a short 20-30 minutes or 90 minutes for one more sleep cycle. If you nap too long your body thinks it’s time to go full on night night mode and when you wake up you’ll be more tired. So keep the nappys shorter if you can, or exactly one sleep cycle.
Fans at a Charlotte FC game were ready to hear “The Voice” winner Michelle Brooks-Thompson sing The National Anthem, but her mic cut out a few moments into the song due to technical issues. The sell-out crowd helped her finish the job and it will bring a tear to your eye. Is it dusty in here? Why are my eyes wet?!!
The ‘Chitidarod’ returned this year after being put on hold last year. Started in 2006, the event was created to help stop hunger in Chicago. The costume, shopping cart race, bar crawl, fund raiser, talent show raised over $100,000 this year, even dealing with having to scale it back slightly. The event took over Fulton Street near Ashland Avenue by Cobra Lounge. 35 teams participated with each team donating at least 69 pounds of food.
Hive Systems says that your password should be somewhere around 18 characters long with numbers, letters, upper and lower case mind you, and symbols. It’s 2022 and hackers have gotten really good at what they do. They can still probably get into your accounts if they really tried, but it’s much easier to guess a password when, say, it’s just numbers. That will take some hacker less than 2 SECONDS, compared to more than 3 hours for you, assuming you have a difficult password.

You know your grandfather is cooler than you when he rolls up bumping Snoop Dog with a tooth pic in his mouth! Is he counting his roll of cash too? No. He’s trying to fix a cassette tap to play in his Oldsmobile. Watch!

The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents and step-parents, siblings and step-siblings, and children and stepchildren. The term “household members” refers to people who share the same residence at least three (3) months out of the year. (i) Text: Listen to the Station Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 7:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm, and 7:00pm during the Contest Period. When the Station announces the keyword and plays the “cue-to-text” sounder, TEXT the keyword to the Station at 312-101. Valid text entries received during the thirty (30) minute period after each cue-to-text sounder (as determined by the Station in its sole discretion) will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing. Time Delay Between Over-the-Air Analog Signal and Internet Broadcast: Due to the time delay that exists between the Station’s analog over-the-air signal and the Station’s online webcast, listeners who listen to the Station online may hear the cue to text later than listeners listening to the Station’s analog over-the-air signal. As a result, the odds of an online listener entering this Contest on-air may be diminished. Standard text messaging rates, as established by an individual’s wireless carrier, may apply, and Station assumes no responsibility for any fees or charges incurred for and associated with any text message sent to or from Station. By entering the Contest using this method, you consent to receive a bounce back confirmation text. Any and all fees arising out of the transmission of a text message shall be the sole responsibility of the entrant. Limit one (1) entry per person per phone number. Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same telephone number. Any attempt by any participant to submit more than one (1) entry by using multiple/different telephone phone numbers, identities, or any other methods will void that participant from further participation in the Contest. By submission of a text message entry in this Contest, entrants hereby expressly consent to the receipt of a confirmatory bounce-back message related to this Contest.
(ii) Online: Listen to the Station Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 7:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm, and 7:00pm during the Contest Period. When the Station plays the “cue-to-text” sounder Visit the Station’s website at www.101wkqx.com and click on the “Contest” link, click on the “Ticket Blitz Thursday – Billie Eilish” Contest link, and complete an entry form, including submitting the keyword announced on-air by the station. Valid entries received during the thirty (30) minute period after each cue-to-text sounder (as determined by the Station in its sole discretion) will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing. Limit one (1) entry per person per email address, per keyword. Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any participant to submit more than one (1) entry by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entry and the participant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Station is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, inappropriate or misdirected registrations, all of which will be disqualified. In the event of a dispute as to any registration, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the participant. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned the telephone number by the wireless carrier or an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. Potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder. All entries become the sole and exclusive property of Station and will not be returned. Station reserves the right to contact entrants and all other individuals whose email address is submitted as part of this promotion. No mail-in entries will be accepted.
Winner Selection. On Thursday, March 10 2022 after each hourly Contest Period closes, as outlined in Section 3, Station will select one (1) entry for the prize in a random drawing from among all valid entries of each hourly contest. The winning entrants will be contacted using the email address and/or telephone number provided with the entry and may be awarded the prize (subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these rules). Station’s decisions as to the administration and operation of the Contest and the selection of the potential winner are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Failure to respond to the initial verification contact within three (3) days of notification will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize.
There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that the Station may, at its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Any tickets and/or gift certificates/cards awarded as part of a prize will be subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the issuer and are valid only on the date(s) printed on the tickets or gift certificates/cards.
