Rod Blagojevich rocked out at Taste of Elmwood Park this weekend

Do you ever sit and think to yourself, “I wonder what Blago is doing right now?” Well, citizens of Elmwood Park learned over the weekend that Blago plays in a band and that band rocked out at Taste of Elmwood Park.

Blago was backed by The Drawers, “a cover band that focuses on rock tunes from the past and some original material.”

Obviously, of course, we’ll be reaching out to see if they want to play Twisted XMAS.

20 Years Ago Today: Dave Matthews Band dumped poo into the Chicago River

It was 20 years today that Dave Matthews Band dumped 800 pounds of feces into the Chicago River and onto an unexpecting crowd of tourists on a Chicago Architecture Foundation boat. Brett McNeil, a reporter for the Tribune at the time, told Block Club Chicago, “I sat toward the bow of the boat, so I didn’t have a very good view of what was happening to us…The docent didn’t grasp what was happening in real time, I think he thought we’d been hit with water. Then a passenger from the back of the boat said, ‘That’s not water, buddy; that’s urine.”

To compensate for the incident, Dave Matthews Band donated $50,000 to the Friends of the Chicago River and have been stuck living down the incident ever since.

The White Sox have finally won a game

It took nearly a month, but the White Sox have won a game. The White Sox have been winless since July 10, having lost 21 games in a row over that time period. Last night, the Sox beat the Oakland A’s 5-1, which finally stopped what seemed like an endless skid.

Since the last Sox win, the following events have happened:

-Trump was nearly assassinated

-The college football video game was released

-Lollapalooza came and went

With this win, the Sox now have 28 wins on the year.

Naperville Ribfest is permanently canceled

The Exchange Club of Naperville made the announcement on Tuesday that they’re calling it quits after 35 years of festivities. In a Facebook post, “As our lease expired in Naperville, there was not another location in town that we were offered that could hold the event. Covid came and we were not able to host the event for two years. We found a new location in Wheaton at the county fairgrounds but the costs of the event post covid were very high and we were not able to generate enough income to be profitable. It is with great sadness that we will not be able to continue on with Ribfest in the future.”

Ribfest, we love you, and we’ll miss you.

White Sox set franchise record, lose 15th straight

Sell the team, Jerry. Put us out of our misery.

Last night, the White Sox gave up six runs in the top of the 8th inning to extend their losing streak to 15 games, which is now the longest losing streak in franchise history. This came hours after Erick Fedde, Michael Kopech, and Tommy Pham were shipped away in a three-team trade.

The Sox continue their series against the Royals tonight.
