This yard party with a few smaller fireworks got out of line quickly when some smaller fireworks went awry. Then they lit the car on fire by accident… that was holding a TON of other fireworks. Lesson learned- when someone says ‘run’ during a Fourth of July party, you pay attention! Watch!
If things go right, there could be a NASCAR race through the streets of Chicago soon.
The Athletic is reporting that they have gotten their hands on a letter that says the city is ready to host a three-year commitment to auto racing:
“Chicago is incredibly enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve as host of the 2023, 2024 and 2025 NASCAR Chicago Street Course events, and we stand ready to welcome NASCAR fans to our world class city,” the letter states. “This would be a historic partnership for NASCAR and the city of Chicago, and our department is committed to collaborating and supporting NASCAR to execute the events in a safe and secure manner.”
According to Jalopnik, this isn’t the first time these two have collaborated. In 2021, they created this virtual race that zips through DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Columbus, Michigan, and more. Could we be seeing something like this for real sometime soon? Fingers crossed.

Martin Cooper is 92 years old, and spends only 5% of his day on his phone. Why is this important? He invented the first cell phone! He urges people to ‘get a life.’ A recent survey found that millennials will spend four or more hours a day on their phones. This has been leading a small percentage of the younger generations to pick a ‘dumb phone’ the original smaller cell phones that only… make calls?!
Sheridan Coldstream is a professional vocal coach, who has posts of him playing popular songs on the piano and encouraging TikTokers to sing along. When he chose “Listen Before I Go” by Eilish, he never imagined that she would respond to it. He said it was the greatest compliment that he could ever receive.
The White Sox made triple play history in a bad way against the Twins. The triple play was the 730th in MLB history but it was historic because it marked the first time that a center fielder and third baseman had combined to record all three outs on a triple play in that order. The first 8-5 triple play, ever. Doesn’t make the Sox feel good. It appears that Moncada got a bad read. He never hesitated while running from first to second, then cue the Benny Hill music… watch!
This morning we learned new details about the tragedy that occurred in Highland Park on July 4. Per WGN, “The gunman accused of fatally shooting seven and wounding over 30 people at a Highland Park Fourth of July parade wore a disguise and blended into the crowd he fired upon before he fled the scene and was eventually caught by police.”
Police said he had planned the attack for weeks and on Monday, was able to access the roof of a business near the parade route and fired over 70 rounds into a panicking crowd.
The death toll has unfortunately risen to 7 at the time of publishing, as well as over 30 other parade-goers who received hospital treatment.
We are learning more about the victims throughout the day. The New York Times has an ongoing list of confirmed lives lost and their impacts on the community.

My grandfather Nicolas Toledo father of 8 and grandfather to many left us this morning July 4th, what was suppose to be a fun family day turned into a horrific nightmare for us all. Not only was Nicolas a loving man , creative , adventurous and funny. As a family we are broken , and numb . Our condolences go out to all the other families who lost a love one today. But today Nicolas is our guardian angel. We ask you please keep our family and all the families of this horrible tragic in your prayers and stay strong as a community.
