July 12th, 1979 was Disco Demolition night at Comsiky

Weird promotions were pretty common at Comisky in the late 1970’s. This one seemed no different from the beginning. People paid a dollar admission for a double header if they brought a disco record to destroy between games, it’s Disco Demolition Night baby! After the Tigers won the first game, disc jockey Steve Dahl knew it was time to blow up some records. They weren’t sure if a lot of people would show up, that’s why promotions director and the owners son, Mike Veeck, thought to give the discount. 70,000 people showed up. After the records were destroyed, people slowly started to leave their seats… running onto the field while the Sox were warming up and suddenly… the field was on fire…. watch!

Remember this EPIC drum battle between Will Ferrell & RHCP’s Chad Smith?

Chad Smith, drummer extraordinaire for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, will be at Soldier Field with the rest of the band this August.  We’d like to send you for free, perhaps.  Cross your fingers.  You could be seeing John Frusciante on stage with the rest of his bandmates for the first time in about a decade!

Do you remember when apparently former conjoined twins Will Ferrell and Smith once partook in epic drum off for the ages on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon?  Pepperidge Farm remembers.  And now you can enjoy.  — [eric]

The most cursed tour ever ‘rages’ on

Four songs into the first of a two night stay at The Madhouse, Zack de la Rocha, frontman of the reunited Rage Against the Machine, briefly went backstage before returning to the stage, seated, on a monitor. He told the crowd, “I don’t know what happened to my leg right now, but you know what? We’re gonna keep this f*ckin’ shit goin’. If I have to crawl across this stage. We’re gonna play for y’all tonight. We came too f*ckin’ far.”

Fear not, the four-piece sounded as strong as ever, even with their leader seated on a monitor to the side of the stage.

A woman was seen walking a banana…

Most people carry bananas home in a bag. This woman was seen parading a banana on a leash through her town. The town recently had a few UFO sightings, so now people are really weirded out. Does she do this all the time? She walked the fruit in the busiest part too, at a high traffic hour- brave. Turns out, she said that she’s ‘practicing for a performance.’ Hmm… don’t buy it!

Tennis star blasts drunk fan at Wimbledon

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios called out a woman a Wimbledon, “She’s the one that looks like she’s had 700 drinks” after complaining about her to officials. Apparently, she was hassling him the entire game from the front row. Novak Djokovic beat Kyrgios, which was probably why he was more annoyed that day…
