The legendary Tony Sirico has passed away
The man better known as Paulie Walnuts on HBO’s Sopranos has passed away. Sirico was 79-years-old, CNN reports.
There is perhaps no character funnier than Walnuts in the history of television. His legacy will live on forever, but he will be greatly missed.

There’s a future for Soldier Field — it’s just not gonna be with the Bears
Everyone seems to know the Chicago Bears are done with the City of Chicago — except the City of Chicago.
Let’s face it, the day that we heard the news about the Arlington Park property — it was over. More seats, more parking, infinitely more ways to control their revenue growth? It’s a no brainer for the McCaskey family.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot unveiled a plan this week that addresses none of those shortcomings the Bears deal with now at Soldier Field — but it does include the potential of adding a $1.5 billion taxpayer-sponsored dome. (I guess we’ll just keep slapping on layer upon layer to that place, until it topples over?)
The Monsters of the Midway may be vacating — but there are some excellent ideas in the new Museum Campus proposal that will bring into a brand new era.
Of the proposals covered by Block Club Chicago, the biggest win would be moving Huntington Bank Pavilion between the Field Museum and the stadium. It always feels like a monumental trek whenever you catch a show there and a more permanent structure might finally make that venue feel less — temporary. It would also make Northerly Island a more nature-friendly place to walk and visit on the lakefront.
We also forget that Soldier Field has another tenant: The Chicago Fire. Soccer’s popularity in this country has tripled over the last decade — it would be no surprise to me to see it continue to climb. Why not embrace this franchise by giving them a dedicated home?
Soldier Field had a life decades before the Chicago Bears moved down from Wrigley — when the team moves, it can still have a place in Chicago for decades to come.

These driveway fireworks got out of line- fast!
This yard party with a few smaller fireworks got out of line quickly when some smaller fireworks went awry. Then they lit the car on fire by accident… that was holding a TON of other fireworks. Lesson learned- when someone says ‘run’ during a Fourth of July party, you pay attention! Watch!

NASCAR street course endorsed by the city of Chicago
If things go right, there could be a NASCAR race through the streets of Chicago soon.
The Athletic is reporting that they have gotten their hands on a letter that says the city is ready to host a three-year commitment to auto racing:
“Chicago is incredibly enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve as host of the 2023, 2024 and 2025 NASCAR Chicago Street Course events, and we stand ready to welcome NASCAR fans to our world class city,” the letter states. “This would be a historic partnership for NASCAR and the city of Chicago, and our department is committed to collaborating and supporting NASCAR to execute the events in a safe and secure manner.”
According to Jalopnik, this isn’t the first time these two have collaborated. In 2021, they created this virtual race that zips through DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Columbus, Michigan, and more. Could we be seeing something like this for real sometime soon? Fingers crossed.

James Caan, best known for his role as Sonny Corleone, passed away on July 6 at age 82.
