Let’s hear it for Chicago’s local businesses. Today is National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day, giving us a reason (not that we needed it) to support local Chicago businesses.

As Independentwestand.org explains, “(Indie businesses create) a community that’s completely unique. No two cities, counties or states have the same network of independent businesses – and that makes each of our neighborhoods a little more interesting.”
