Our hearts are with the people of Nice

Our hearts go out to the victims of today’s attacks in Nice, France who suffered an apparent terror attack today which killed 80 people when a truck rammed into a crowd during the late hours of a Bastille Day celebration where many had gathered to watch fireworks. CNN reported the occupants of the truck then exchanged gunfire with police. Information about the situation is still coming out.

In these times we can collectively feel the need to reach out and help. You can donate to efforts with the French Red Cross here.  If you know someone who may be effected by this attack and need information, the U.S. State Department has a online resource here

In Paris tonight a large explosion near the Eiffel Tower occurred, yet is not terror-related according to local offiicials. That incident is being attributed to a malfunction with fireworks meant for Bastille Day celebrations. This attack in Nice occurred 8 months after an attack on a rock club in Paris where alternative band Eagles of Death Metal were performing.

Bastille Day is the French equivalent of our 4th of July. It is a celebration of the French people and their history as democratic country.
