It asks why “you” are the couple that should win. I don’t deserve to win, but my girlfriend deserves more than I can give. We met at mutual friend’s wedding. That was a great night…I had already told myself that I wasn’t going to get involved because I was set to be deployed to Iraq. “Somehow” she became pregnant. I had to leave my “train up” prepping for Iraq because they were going to deliver our daughter early. A few months later, during the height of Covid, I spent almost a year in Iraq/Kuwait. My girlfriend spent that year raising our daughter without me. My daughter was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome. It was rough getting to her diagnosis and it’s been rough since. My girlfriend has made hundreds of trips from our home in Franklin Grove to Chicago for appointments at Rush, Luries, and Schriner’s. Luckily, I was able to ride along to her few appointments and got her hooked on the Q101 morning show, so she is “cultured” like I am. You guys have helped her make those morning appointments!

I’ve been with my girlfriend for 7 years. We have been through a lot. She lost both her parents within a year of each other. She also gets up every day and takes care of our four kids and works while dealing with CPTSD and anxiety. She is the strongest person I know. I recently lost my job and have been having to dip into my savings for her ring.We have been struggling because it’s hard to find a job, and she’s taken on the weight of it all while I try my best to support her and make whatever I can. I feel like she deserves the world! This would be the best thing for both of us. I love her with all my heart and soul. Please help me make her happy again.

It all started during Covid when I was looking quite ragged with long hair and a bushy beard. I made a post asking if anyone was doing house calls for haircuts, and I got a response from an old friend of mine saying her sister was available. The day of my haircut she got out of her car and started walking towards my patio and I instantly said to myself “I’m in love”. She came out wearing a messy side bun, Daisy, Dukes, and a tank top glistening in the sun. I played it cool but couldn’t wait for my next haircut. It took over 10 hangouts to finally get a kiss, and that sealed our fate. As Covid got further behind us we became more entangled. But not without our ups and downs. We each have 13-year-old kids, as well as a two-year-old, and we are waiting on our latest arrival, due in January. We’ve been postponing getting married due to our new babies and both of her sisters getting married, but now it’s our turn, and nothing would be as epic as getting engaged at Twisted! I’ve turned her to the alternative side by taking her to The Black Keys and Badflower! Unfortunately she’s also been recently diagnosed with cancer and is waiting to have our baby before we start treatment. This would mean the world to us. 🙏🏽

“I would like to tell the story of my girlfriend Fawn and I. I am a school bus driver and she is a substitute teacher. No we did not meet at school! We had our first kiss at a Garbage show at the Riv in 1998. We dated way back then, but we were young and life took us in different directions. We never forgot about each other. We eventually reunited, and celebrated at the Garbage concert again this year at the Salt shed! We love going to concerts almost as much as we love each other! We both have children from previous relationships and would love to get married and officially blend our families together. Please consider us for this contest so we can make this a reality! We would love to share our first kiss again as an engaged couple at another concert in front of all the Q101 listeners! Hello Q101! I want to start this off by saying this is a surprise! My girlfriend does not know that I actually submitted this. We talked about it once, but I’m sure she thinks I forgot! Concerts mean the world to us. We started as best friends who planned to drive over 1000 miles to Virginia for a music festival, and then follow the fest with two back-to-back weekends in 2 other states. I like to say that’s when I knew I wanted her in my life forever. We have since been to over 100 concerts together. One of which was seeing the Black Keys at the Aragon for Twisted X-mas. Their song “The Only One”, is the song we want to dance to at our wedding. That was all thanks to Q101! The Aragon ballroom is so very special to us! From seeing Danzig there with her father, to going to almost every single year of Twisted. I’ll never forget the night her truck was towed at Twenty One Pilots. I knew then I found the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We both stayed calm and knew we would figure it out together! I’m currently completing my bachelor’s degree, and our plans are on hold so I can focus on finishing school and starting my career. This incredible gift from James & Sons would be a stepping stone towards our long and happy lives together! It would be an incredible honor to get to propose to her, in one of her favorite venues, in the city we love, with the support of a radio station that we hold near and dear to us!
