Blink 182 Get Goofy in ‘Home is Such a Lonely Place’ Video

Blink-182’s deluxe edition of California has been out since May 29, which added 12 new singles to the already 16-track album. They’ve also added another video, ‘ Home Is Such A Lonely Place’ which is a ballad that might evoke emotions. It appears to be video clips shot by the band themselves as they visit home, taking a break from life on the road (which is also lonely ??)…Wait is that a shot of Malort Matt Skiba is drinking in his cool jacket with the Chicago Flag patch on it?

Wrigleyville Dive Bar Builds Wall Of Malort

(from chicagoist.com)

Wrigleyville’s, Nisei Lounge is the kind of unpretentious dive where the staff serves up a good craft beer or a cheap domestic and doesn’t suffer fools. It’s also earned its reputation as something of a shrine to Chicago’s favorite foul spirit, the mighty Malort. Now, it appears they’ve outdone themselves. (MORE HERE)

Glorious. I love the notes left on the wall too.

Adam “The One True Batman” West Has Died

Batman died on Friday.  And no, I’m not talking about Christian Bale or Ben Affleck . . . or Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, or, God forbid, George Clooney.  I’m talking about THE Batman.  The ONE TRUE BATMAN, ADAM WEST. Adam’s family said he passed away after a brief battle with leukemia.  He was 88. “Batman” debuted in 1966, but only lasted three seasons.  It aired twice a week, with a cliffhanger between each week’s episodes.  And it was so popular that everybody wanted to guest star as a villain. They also made a movie version that hit theaters in 1966, and included one of the greatest scenes in film history:  The “Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb” scene. And while he kept busy as an actor in the years since the show was canceled in 1968, the role continued to define him as an actor. Although today’s kids might know him as the voice of . . . well . . . Adam West, Mayor of Quahog on “Family Guy”. Adam’s take on Batman was a lot different than anyone else’s, before or after him.  Yes, there were two guys who played Batman before him, in black and white movie serials in the 1940s. Adam’s Batman could be enjoyed by kids as an action-packed superhero adventure.  But it was also very obviously a campy satire that was a lot smarter than some people give it credit for. Adam once said, quote, “You can’t play Batman in a serious, square-jawed, straight-ahead way without giving the audience the sense that there’s something behind that mask waiting to get out, that he’s a little crazed, he’s strange.” Adam, BURT WARD, and JULIE NEWMAR reprised their roles as Batman, Robin, and Catwoman in the 2016 animated movie “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders”.  And they shot another one called “Batman vs. Two Face”, with WILLIAM SHATNER as Two Face.  It’s due out sometime this year. Adam is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. READ MORE

Man Freed From Prison After Discovering Look-Alike

For the record, that’s not photos taken at different times in life.  At first glance, maybe.  In focus, those are clearly two separate men.  But mistaken identity may have caused one of them to spend 17 years in prison.

Richard Anthony Jones always maintained that he was innocent of robbing a Wal-Mart.  After being sentenced on solely eyewitness testimony, he later heard that he looked just like someone else in the prison system.  In fact, they shared the same first name….Ricky.   And the other man lived near where the crime occured (Jones, meanwhile, lived across the state line.)

Based on the new information, a judge freed the man this week.  You can read the entire saga here.  — [eric]

WATCH: Audioslave Performs “Like A Stone” W/ Audience Singing Vocals

The remaining members of Audioslave have been doing some great tributes to Chris Cornell. Recently they played an instrumental version of “Like A Stone” at a show in Berlin and with spotlight shining down where Chris would’ve been standing the audience didn’t miss a beat and provided the vocals. See the video below.

Could the Earth be Flat?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  This is one I have heard, but definitely not so fully fleshed out before.  I believe that there are an infinite number of possibilities and an infinite number of realities.  In some realities the Earth is round and in others the Earth is flat; you (or science if you choose to believe in it) can choose which reality you are currently living in.

Here’s a shorter video from Bill Nye about the Earth being round.

Harvard Will Offer a Course Based on “Game of Thrones”

“Game of Thrones” isn’t just another TV show.  People take it SERIOUSLY.  So perhaps it’s not surprising that it’s going to be the subject of a new course at Harvard. It’s called “The Real Game of Thrones: From Modern Myths to Medieval Models” . . . and it’ll focus on the similarities and differences between the books and the show and ACTUAL medieval history. One of the professors of the class is a medieval historian, and he said, quote, “‘Game of Thrones’ does dramatize nicely some fundamental things going on in medieval courts . . . “Tensions between a queen and the younger women who marry their sons are some ‘Real Housewives of 10th-century Germany’ kind of stuff . . . where you see these women going after each other.” This is the latest in a long line of college courses inspired by the show.  Some others include a linguistics class at UC Berkeley taught by the guy who created Dothraki, one of the fictional languages on the show.  And Rice University had a class on monarchs with a “Game of Thrones” theme. SUPER MARIO THEME PARK IS HAPPENING! LET’S A GO!

Universal Studios Japan is getting one of the most exciting concepts to be introduced at a theme park in some time: SUPER MARIO! ‘Super Nintendo World’ has been talked about for some time but today Nintendo and Universal Studio officials confirmed at a groundbreaking ceremony in Japan today with hopes the attraction will be open in time of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

Now are we going to get our own Super Nintendo World at one of the Amercian Universal Studios in Orlando or Hollywood? USA Today reported along with today’s announcement that the both Nintendo and Universal are working on plans for a US version of the Mario themed fun but when they will open has not been confirmed. Video game vlogger BitBlock while expressing some Mario fan freakout over the teaser trailer, analysed that DisneyWorld in Orlando is rolling some very big attractions with Star Wars so this is Universal meeting demand for fresh concepts.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new park was held today in Japan, which was beyond weird and playful.  Universal Studio executives and ‘Super Mario’ creator Shigeru Miyamoto were very serious while wearing silly over sized red Mario hats and cartoony white puffy gloves. Plus a giant Mario mascot running along with delightfully campy set with a rolling poster that played out like real-life version of 8bit classic levels.

The biggest attraction that makes 90’s kids mouths collectively salivate is that the park will feature Mario Kart Experience. Something the executives called a “key part” of the park’s adventure for guests.
