If you missed SNL over the weekend, the episode fell 5 days after the 27th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death. Kid Cudi paid tribute to him and Chris Farley during his first performance of “Tequila Shots,” wearing a T-shirt with Chris Farley on it under a fuzzy green cardigan resembling the one Cobain wore for Nirvana’s 1993 MTV Unplugged in New York performance (which is the subject of episode 24 of the History of Alternative podcast)
For “Sad People,” his second performance of the show, Cudi wore a floral dress. He confirmed on Twitter that this, too, was an ode to Cobain, and will be included in an upcoming collection between Off-White and Cudi.
Interesting fact from Vulture.com, “On Cudi and Kanye West’s collaborative album Kids See Ghosts in 2018, Cobain was credited as a songwriter and composer for the song “Cudi Montage,” which sampled Cobain’s “Burn the Rain” guitar riff.”
