Coast Guard Saves People Living off of Rats, Coconuts

Three Cubans have had a very rough month. They were stranded off of a deserted island in the Bahamas, leading to the US Coast Guard in Clearwater, Florida making a heroic save of the trio after they saw the group’s makeshift flag waving for help. Due to bad weather, the rescue was delayed by a day, but upon being spotted, the crew was dropped down food, water, and a radio.

Of course, being on an island for 30 days means limited resources, and according to the Coast Guard, the group was living off of rats, coconuts, and conch shells. They’re lucky to be alive and it’s a miracle that, according to the Coast Guard, they were in good shape with no injuries when they were rescued.

Do you think you could live on a deserted island for 30 days? Be realistic about it. Shoot us a message on Facebook and let us know how you think you’d do.
