The cost of buying everything in the 12 Days of Christmas this year? $16K.

The tradition of calculating how much one would spend on buying all the gifts outlined in the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” checked in for another year here in everyone’s faaaavorite, 2020 🙄.

Amongst other fluctuations in prices calculated by looking at the Consumer Price Index, one big noticeable savings in this pandemic is the screeching halt put on the performing arts. So while the inability to hire drummers, musicians, & dancers will save you, maybe you can throw some of that cash towards saving the independent Chicago venues that make up CIVL and help save THEM?

By the way, if you wanted to be true to the song and buy the 364 gifts listed in EVERY verse of the song — $105K.  If you’ve got that kind of money, adopt me.  — [eric]
