Red Hot Chili Peppers return to the stage, Anthony Keidis on the mend

The Red Hot Chili Peppers with singer Anthony Kiedis fresh off an emergency hospital stay, returned to the stage this past weekend with a festival headlining set in  Columbus, Ohio. As we reported here last week, Kiedis was rushed to a hospital hours before the Peppers were to close out a festival lineup in California last weekend.

This marks the first performance in the ramp up to the release of ‘The Getaway’ their new album dropping on June 17th. This set also saw the band performing their new single ‘Dark Necessities’ for the first time. Listen to that and get a look at the band’s entire set list from the show here with Consequences of Sound.

Shortly before his return to the stage, Kiedis gave an interview to ET Canada where he revealed more info on his health and how this is effecting him in the future. Kiedis tells this great story about using the philosophy of ‘the show must go on’ with his career and it involves diapers…yep, diapers.

“It was a painful and sad thing to have to cancel shows, we don’t really do that, I’d rather play deathly ill than not at all but in this particular instance I was starting to go down to the ground. I got some help and now I’ve got to figure things out. I surf most days and I like to charge, but every now and then, the body is like, ‘You’re doing something wrong, either fix it or we’re gonna let you know about it,’ and I think that my body let me know that I had to change my ways a little bit.”Antohny Kiedis RHCP
