MICHAEL McCARTHY,
has either written for or performed with just about every American comedy institution currently in existence.  He’s been a staff writer on television shows as diverse as “Saturday Night Live,” “Sesame Street,” and “The Drew Carey Show.”  He’s a proud alumni of The Second City Mainstage, having written and performed five separate shows with titles such as “America Lite,” “Ameri-go-round,” “Winner Takes Oil,” “Economy of Errors,” as well as “Truth, Justice Or The American Way”.

He’s also written and produced many, many Comedy Central shows and specials including “Comedy Central On Trail: Bobbit vs. Bobbit,” “Spunk: The Tonya Harding Story,” “Battlebots,” “Beat The Geeks,” and more.

From 1995 until 1999 he created and produced Ireland’s first comedy festival in Kilkenny, Ireland called “The Murphy’s Cat Laughs”; participants include a veritable who’s who of American, British and Irish comedians including Bill Murray, George Wendt and Eddie Izarrd.  He wrote and produced a TV series for Channel Four in the U.K. entitled “Beyond The Pale”.

He is the proud creator and host of “Big News,” a news-driven sketch comedy show performed every Thursday evening at the Improv Olympic Theater in Hollywood, California.

His performing credits include recent appearances on “Cold Case,” “The Gilmore Girls,” “According To Jim,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” not to mention appearances in HBO’s “The Late Shift,” and “Stuart Saves His Family”.
